One of our cats is an outdoor cat that has access and uses my shop through a cat door. He is very domesticated and is a great pal. He got bit on his paw. Took him in as it was abscessed. The vet did well as she has done before. This required a bandage that is a bit cast like. Looks like a club. Anyway got the advice to keep him in and leave bandage on for five days.
My question is she put and opiate on his neck. Said it would last 4 days. OK, get him home and in the shop and he is definitely high and some agitated or more like stimulated. If alone he is more so. With one of us with him he seems better. But kind of like ecstasy. he whats to rub on everything and touch us constantly. Wondering how long this will last. I am assuming they gave him this for pain? I should of asked. Any thoughts or advice.

Yes, that's pain med he's reacting to. I'd call the vet first thing in the morning and ask if the dose is too strong, but I vaguely remember a similar reaction in some cats we had years ago, so I'm thinking he'll be OK until then.

Hope your buddy is doing better. Those absesses sure can look horrible for a few days. Been thru it with our guys to many times. No free running has sure helped.
