Questions I should ask prior to donating $ or supplys
The Tiny town High School is starting a "mail stuff to the armed forces over seas " effort, to be mailed out in January.

What ten questions do I need to ask the person in charge ?

o.k.
what questions should I ask the u.s.o.?

example :

where will the money be spent?

where will the supply's that I donate be going?

how will they get there? when will they get there?

I e-mailed the lady in charge of the business class at the high school,

The students are doing all the collecting and soliciting .

The, they are running what they collect up to some guy in Rockford ,who is sending the stuff too troops that are from our general vicinity .

but facts and figures about who is getting what , how much and such are not available.

I am gonna pass on her . too much someone ,somewhere might do this or that .

From my experience, we would have lots of donated stuff the Chaplain would set out. Anyone could come and take what they wanted/needed.

My 2 cents: Keep in mind that our folks are pretty well fed. We can buy some junk food items at the local PX/BX on the established bases.

We're given a checklist (I'm retired USAF)prior to deployment. This ensures we bring enough articles of clothing/equipment, etc.

I got a huge kick out of letters sent by kids - it really warm my heart.

If you would like to donate to the soldiers, I found operation paperback to be a charity easy to get behind. I read a lot and was able to share books with others interested in them. At the time I did it, you requested based on genre of books available and the organization matched you with a soldier or base desiring what you had to share.

I think if you donate stuff, it will go into boxes and direct to troops. If you donate money, some of it will go toward stuff.

mental illness plays a huge part,
p.t.s.d. especially .
and
America is driven by the dollar,
when it becomes very profitable to care about the homeless,
things will turn around

there are tons of places that do good , some do better than others ,
some do not very well at all.

I dread the day when I win the lottery and have to hire two people to sort out the good better and best of them , to donate funds
