Not to quibble, I think the real goal here is for the gov't to gain more power for themselves, in the name of taking care of the people. Roll Eyes

Some years ago state and local officials did a banzai on an ammo dealer in Santa Clara County (CA, Silicon Valley), confiscated enough ammo to "kill everyone east of the Mississippi River", per the local paper. Months later, after it was determined that no laws were broken, all customs/import stuff was kosher, the gov't offered to give "most" of the ammo back if the now defunct business would promise to not sue. Roll Eyes

Scoutmaster and other potential refugees need to understand the distrust they will face when they escape. If your vehicle has Kali plates, you will experience instate hatred. Its caused by those who come to bring what they left to the new colony. A Texas theme is we don't care where you came from, just don't try to tell us how you used to do it.

Or the now hopeless theme of "don't Kalifornicate Colorado." To late, its already fucked over. But don't expect welcoming arms.

Slap one of these on your car first and you'll be fine:

Tape it inside the window if you don't want it permanently affixed.

There's a lot of truth in that. I'll give the Kali refugee a chance but my first inclination is that they are trying to bring the same crap they're running from to my town.

I guess my point was this: Even if they don’t enforce this at all, the gun ban crowd will consider it a win because all those legal mail order businesses will cease shipping to CA. Less ammunition will be available without CA spending a dime on enforcement, and they see this as a win.

Scoutmaster, you’re moving to Utah anyway when you’ve had enough, right? Utah is full of “good” California expats.

IIRC the Univ of Utah was the first public univ in the US to formally approve CCWs carrying on campus. The then pres was Bernie Machen who rejected such, the Utah legislature told Machen to stuff it, Machen left. Smile

(I don't know if technically I will be a CA expat, I grew up looking at Grandeur Peak and Mt Olympus out of my front window. When I got married, our first home was ~20 minutes, door to door, from Snowbird. And as I type this, I am getting more antsy to get back home.)

Will California have an approved ammo list that has to be renewed every year?

Don't give them any ideas. Wink

(That's probably on next year's legislative calendar).

You're being too kind.

Here is the next governor of CA (after the election in Nov. 2018), posted a couple of days ago:

Mark my words, CA will go after semi-autos, ppt purchases, and lots more that have nothing to do with firearms.

Ammo is small potatoes.

Just another reason not to visit California in my motorhome, I think at last count I am a little over on round count.

$$$

But, seriously, if all American ammo companies stopped, they'd just buy from furriners. Right?

They would probably import it from Aguila in Mexico.

The irony is not lost on me.
