Revived my old Kindle 3 by replacing the battery. Got it all back up & saw it's tied to an account that's long gone. Can I move the couple books on there to another account? My wife got a new Kindle, from me, for Christmas. Can I link mine to the same acct hers is on? And if so, are all books shared between the devices? She also has Kindle Unlimited, if question 2 above is yes, does the Unlimited extend to a 2nd device on the same acct? The Enemy's gate is down.

I can tell you that you can indeed have 2 devices registered on the same account. Someone else will have to chime in for the other questions.

I think you buy the books and they are on your cloud, you just have to list your devices. My kindle is showing 220 books on device and 285 on the cloud. You Amazon account will list all your devices. Sig 556 Sig M400 P226 Tacops P229 Legion P320 X compact

Issue is my old Kindle 3 is registered to a long gone address/account. My wife's new Kindle is on her current account. Ideally, I'll just re-register it on her current account & have both under that, but don't really want to lose the few books I have on the the old Kindle 3/acct.
Thanks, I'll give that a shot this weekend & see if I can extract them onto my computer & put them back once it's re-registered. The Enemy's gate is down.

If the kindle is old enough there are some tools around that let you strip the DRM off and then you can put them on the new kindle as not a kindle library book. Look up calibre The reason it takes an old kindle is that the new ones support a new DRM method that I have not seen any tools that can strip it.

^ Thanks. But this old Kindle is going to remain in use, for me, just wanting to update it to an active account & not lose the content that's on it. Should've brought it to work with me today. The Enemy's gate is down.

New hiccup. The Kindle 3 doesn't directly support 2 factor authentication [2FA] Amazon support says to enter the 2FA code, appended to the end of your password. Tried that a few times & it's not working. The Enemy's gate is down.

Figured it out. I was basing my password assumptions on the Amazon guide, which says to add the 2FA code to you pwd IE: If your pwd is Abcde & the 2FA code is 1234, you should enter Abcde1234 as the pwd. But, trying it at home & having my wife's phone (2FA recipient) in my hand, I saw that it wanted only the 2FA code [which was actually a one-time pwd, not 2FA] as the pwd. Got it connected, then discovered that the Kindle store has been disabled on older devices. Still works as a Kindle, just have to do all book purchases via a computer or phone & send to device from there. Pipe Smoker's link also worked for extracting the books that were on the device, and was able to put them back on after a factory reset. Bonus, some of the book files on the HDD were progress files & when putting them back on, my progress was retained on the books I kept. The Enemy's gate is down.
