Because the files don't contain any actual encounters with little green men, or tall grey beings, etc.
And the recent "credible" footage of the tiny "tic tac" flying just above the ocean is defying the laws of physics, and no life form could survive the moves it is making.
Operative word to me is "unidentified". Not currently a fan of intergalactic travel being possible w/o some evidence of the folding of space being possible.
An expanding universe explained in light-years of travel tells me we are all meant to never meet the possibility of other life.

They haven’t released anything better than what has been available before. Nothing that proves anything, so I don’t care either. Give us ET standing next to the President, addressing a joint session of Congress, or just stop the bullshit.

Not that it’s important, but stupid question: unidentified in this context means gov not willing to identify it or unable to identify it (and not just because it’s just a black dot on a picture; like they can make out sufficient details to know it’s not identifiable)?

It just means we won't be able to see them coming!

We're a little nothing rock on an arm of a galaxy in the near-infinite vastness of the universe. You might as well suppose a single grain of sand from all the beaches and deserts of the world might be singled out by little green men.
Makes me think about George Carlin's observation about 'average intelligence'.
One of the best reasons for why certain files are not released is precisely because of the “I don’t trust the government” attitude. Why?
Because when what is finally released is so weak at confirming someone’s theory—or perhaps actively helps disprove it—then its very weakness is viewed as, “See! What they released didn’t confirm my theory, and that is just further proof of the coverup.” The ability to rationalize anything in order to maintain certain beliefs is essential to many belief systems.

I actually partially agree, but not in the way you intend I suspect. They've been here for millennia. Deep under the ocean. I have nothing concrete to back this but all the claims coming out now of our navy tracking undersea vessels that are both huge and running at hundreds of knots give me the feeling that they've been among us for a very long time.

I don’t think any of this UFO/UAP crap is real. I think it’s really just the government fucking with us. I want to believe but now that .gov says they are real I am less inclined to believe in their existence.

Ah..the source of Atlantis. I’m excited to see Aquaman. I wonder if it looks like Jason Momo.

In the vast, perhaps infinite, expanse of space, it is the height of human arrogance to believe that we are the only intelligent beings in the whole dang thing. It is also somewhat ridiculous to think that we have achieved the height of intelligence in the whole universe...we only learned to fly 100 years ago for Pete's sake. Hell, we are likely akin to cavemen rubbing sticks together and throwing rocks at each other with regard to understanding the physics of what is possible with space travel. No, we don't have it all figured out...not by a long shot.
Since reading Chariots Of The Gods as a youngin', I've always believed that not only are we not alone, but that we have been visited. How they found us and why/how they came is a mystery, but I don't doubt it for a second.
