I sometimes get the items I order delivered to a pickup locker on my way home. No need to worry about someone stealing it from my steps when i am not there. Amazon sends a 6 digit code when the order is ready, you enter that on the display, click “open locker” on the screen and the door opens. At least it should. Today after work I went to pickup 2 items and the touch screen display does not work on the locker so I was unable to get my two items. There was no way to click “open door”. So I decide to use Amazon chat after going through their train wreck AI chatbot. As usual there is an obvious language barrier but I do my best to tell them that the touch screen on the pickup locker is not working and needs repaired. I even gave them the name and address of the locker. Seems simple. After being transferred to the 9th person I got fed up. Half of them have no English comprehension and kept stating that I wanted to return items, even though I spelled out clearly what the issue was. I asked for a level person a few times to no avail. The last guy seemed to be in America somewhere. I told him he needed to forward the chat history to their training team. Also that their help is almost as bad as Comcast tech support. I ended out convo with “I gave you everything you need, I have wasted too much time and at this point I really do not care if it gets fixed or not.” I pretty much felt like Michael Douglas in “Falling Down”. I am sure tech support and help desks will get progressively worse over time. Maybe in a few years when I am senile it won’t bother me so much. If only I had the address of those first 8 people. Then I could send them glitter bombs, that would suffice for the frustration. A room full of glitter…….

Seems like everyone has outsourced CS to Mumbai, we call dozens of insurance carriers claims departments every day, and almost everyone has outsourced CS. Few have us citizens working, it's all clearly in India, the accents are horrible, sometimes you get ok help but for the most part they are scripted, and unable to move off script, there is zero allowance for it. That's why you get zero help, unless you get lucky to find a decent operator. I thought they would be able to send a signal to open a door from CS.

If I cant understand Jugdish when I finally reach him, I hang up and call again until I can get someone who I can understand. Takes quite awhile! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Sometimes I just hang up on them if they're incompetent and the language barrier is insurmountable. In a pinch just call the Amazon Telephone Live Customer Service number, that is a USA Amazon back office expert live human being, who has access to everything and can fix anything. You'd think with as much money as Amazon rakes in annually they could afford to pay for competent help desk employees that actually speak English.

Yep. I've only had the occasion to call maybe half a dozen times over the years, but this is what I do. Never had a problem. Other outfits though? I'm a hanger upper and caller backer until I get someone who speaks American. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. Sadly it seems every industry from local stores to online stores to healthcare, customer service has gone to hell. Almost impossible to get to a human being and when you do, they are not even in your state or country. The only golden hope I encountered in the last few years was Speed Queen. I had an issue which was not their problem but the seller, called the number, a human answered right away and solved my problem without ever transferring the call! THAT is how customer service was and should be and you would think a company as big as Amazon could do it. I have only had to call Amazon a few times and it wasn’t too terribly bad, but maybe they saw how much I buy or I called the right number. NRA Benefactor Life Member

I've started using the 'in garage' delivery service from Amazon. The camera on the opener scans the delivery and videos the entire encounter (usually 5-10 seconds from open to close). Its put peace of mind back into my old doorstep deliveries, and since the drivers know they are being recorded it has been problem free! ___________________________ He looked like an accountant or a serial-killer type. I need to do that, I should have ended the chat before I did but I was trying to be patient.

I had to call the Amazon customer service a few years ago, very poor effort to drop at the correct house. Yes, everything is marked. It took me FOREVER to get to a real person. They put notes on my account, delivery has been better.
