I’m against mandatory service but many people in this country would be well served to be taught the lesson that you respect the rank not the man. While I do respect President Trump and will never respect the bag of shit who held the office before him I did once meet that bag of shit in person and was respectful, even excited in a way, because I respect the office so much that I was honored to meet the person holding it.

Notice President Trump isn’t mentioned, just “The President.” It’s clear the media type had to inject his own prejudice into the article.

I'd have been hard pressed not to beat some respect into someone. Enlistment ceremonies are sacred. I was honored to re-enlist some of my soldiers, and I treasure the memory.

I re-enlisted several times. Never regretted it.

The draft was in effect when I was in the army, and I can safely say that in all those years I never saw a draftee do anything but his duty. Did their 2 years and went home.

I am of the firm opinion that we should institute the draft again. A lot of good learning takes place in the military, and a shit ton of those shitheads we see around now would receive some serious attitude adjustment!
