Is there any difference between Difference between Motorcraft and Genuine Ford Parts ? When I look for on-line suppliers of authentic Ford parts, I see both lines mentioned, but with no explanation of the difference.

Are these one and the same, and if they are, why does Ford make a distinction, and why is it so fuzzy and nondescript ?

And... do any of you guys know a website that is a 100% reliable source of ONLY the real deal parts from Ford Motor Company ?

I have a couple older Ford trucks, and for some types of parts I only go with OEM parts, even as good as some upper level aftermarket manufactures may be. The problem with those is it's hard to determine if their particular parts are better than OEM. So far I have never found this to be the case for the really important parts, I've always have had the best luck with genuine Ford, Nissan, and Toyota parts, notwithstanding normal exceptions with things like belts and hoses etc., and other common equivalents like NGK and Denso etc. for oxygen sensors and spark plugs etc. for Nissan and Toyota respectively.

the only difference is that a motocraft part might be sold in other channels outside of Ford distribution but a Ford part cannot.

Motorcraft sells genuine Ford parts, but not all genuine Ford parts are sold by Motorcraft. Furthermore, not all the parts Motorcraft sells are genuine Ford parts. It’s a brand. It’s been awhile since I’ve looked, but I believe they sell different quality levels of parts the top level of which is the same part as the genuine Ford part.

I see their price they ALMOST always have the lowest price I can find for Ford stuff.

I then call my local Ford dealer and see their price and if they will match or beat the prices I got online.

Similar with General Motors and AC-Delco.

Delco outsources from suppliers that meet minimum standards. One case in point a few years ago we had Delco u-joints in stock that we got from General Motors in house parts division, whatever it’s called at present.

The same boxes, part numbers. The ones marked Made In USA had grease fittings while the Made In Mexico were without grease fittings.

In the “real” GM Parts that would trigger a different part number.
