I presume you had UPS print a receipt?

IANAL, but, I presume that, since the shipping was arranged by and paid for by Verizon, the item became theirs upon receipt by UPS. Thus the loss is theirs to bear.

I would call back and demand the case be escalated to a supervisor. "Escalate" being the key word.

Regardless of how this turns out: It reflects very badly on Verizon's customer service.

Where is UPS in this? Each time I’ve shipped I’ve gotten a shipping label from the company, took it and the item to the store where they accepted the package gave me a receipt.

My experience with Verizon in trying to activate two phones involved horrible customer service that was only fixed by driving to a Verizon store. Once there, the store manager spent three hours with Verizon customer service and finally got the phones working.

A month later, it took under 30 minutes online to switch service from Verizon to US Mobile. Same Verizon service, 25% the cost, all is still good a year later.

Spectrum has a great service at a good price. Between my wife and me, we have three phones using Spectrum mobile, two personal and one for business. The phones are all on "by the Gig" pricing, so the total, for three phones, is $42.00 / month ($14.00 each), including all taxes and junk fees.

There is on potential "gotcha" though -- in order to get the good pricing, you must have Spectrum internet service, either residential or business.

As far as the $600 fee, a shipping reciept it was sent and a call to your credit card company to refuse the bill are all it takes. Just don't pay it. The parcel company should answer for not delivering, it's their responsibility.

My PAYG phone costs me about $100 a year and I'm on my third year of a Samsung we bought at Best Buy for $35 each. Triple minutes and 90 day cards for over 15 years, the carrier locally is Verizon which has superior service in this area. Text and Data can be added as needed, I plussed the texts with another 1,000 two years ago and still have 2.3GB left over from vacation last June - not a heavy user except for Maps while traveling new roads.

Trac Phone. Avoid using Customer Service as much as possible. I tried an LG on ATT and their network refused to switch tower to tower - I'd get messages the next day if I traveled 25 miles away. I had to turn it off and start up again to force it. That can be very much a local condition and checking with Howard forums it varies widely.

Phones change and 5G is standard now, buyer be aware. A few more years and we may have to toss these for a newer spec. Imagine the guys who bought bag phones for full price in the day, when they killed analog there were still thousands in use.

Consumer Cellular isn’t the cheapest but they’re a lot cheaper than ATT or Verizon. And they don’t outsource their customer service to some shithole country.

I can't tell you how much trouble I have had with them, it would crash the servers. Mad

I went with T-Mobile for $17/month.

Yep, scanned it, put the box in the pile gave me a receipt. and said here is your tracking number.

The receipt I got, was for a package shipped in November. we dropped it off Dec 27th or 28th. All I looked at was the tracking number.

The tracking number we have for the phone that verizon pervided was scanned in, but never scanned into the truck.

Then, sadly, I guess you're screwed. You have no proof, other than your word, that you actually shipped the defective phone back, except...

If, by this, you mean the tracking number for the pre-paid shipping Verizon provided you, then I would think this would be good enough for Verizon's purposes?

Odd that you got the wrong receipt. Whenever I've done a UPS drop-off, they scan it and a machine instantly prints a receipt for the thing they just scanned.

Have you tried contacting UPS about this?

Yep,

Basically they searched their records and said it must have been stolen. As for it being verizons issue to deal with ups, they will not.

As of yesterday, I spent a little over 2 hours on the first phone call, an hour at ups, an hour and a half at the verizon store,

Three hours on a second phone call with verizon and nearly four hours on chat yesterday.

Wow.

I administered the wireless plan at my ex-employer's. Verizon always treated us right. Had they not been about the most expensive wireless provider of the bunch, I might well have gone with them for my wife's and my phones.

Had I, and they pulled a stunt like this on me, that would be the last they'd see of me. Ever.

I do have Spectrum Cable and Internet. Just checked and they do have international roaming now. Have to check common travel countries and see what the rates are...

Cable (as in TV) is not a requirement for the low-priced Spectrum mobile service, but internet is.

I believe that Charter offers a similar deal.

When you dropped the package(phone) off at the UPS store, they should have given you the receipt that stated the dropped off date and time it was dropped off.
Call the numbers on the back of the UPS receipt and start the claim process. Sometime they don't deal with third party(you) but Verizon because they paid for the returned shipping of the phone. If that the case, call Verizon and give them the tracking numbers, date and time on the receipt.
Good luck

We use CC. Don't need that much and the price is about as fair as I can find. Decent C/S as well. Been with them for 7 years and have had no problems. The AARP discount isn't much but every little bit these days.

If I remember correctly the last time I had a warranty exchange with Verizon it was shipped to me overnight via fedex or UPS, but the prepaid label was for USPS. are you sure this wasn't the case?

tsig is trying to help, but it seems the ups tracking number we have is invalid.

This is the number vz told us in both chat and over the phone.

I am positive it was a UPS label, the instructions were clear. Drop off at any UPS store, or UPS facility.

The Verizon replacement conversation came up here a little over a year ago and someone mentioned Mint Mobile. After looking into it I switched and have been very happy since.

Plans start at $15/mo and you can bring your own phone or they can supply one.

So the UPS tracking number VZW has is invalid and the receipt the UPS drop-off point gave you is invalid, as well?

It wouldn't have scanned at the UPS store had it not been a UPS label.

Sorry you're getting screwed. I'm not certain who screwed you, whether it was the clerk at the UPS drop-off or whom, but screwed it seems you are.

I've certainly learned something from this: From now on, when I'm sent a return box I'll make sure to scan or photograph the label. When I'm given a receipt at a shipper drop-off point I'll verify it's the correct receipt.

Yep, it is a lesson learned for us also. Typically we are far more cautious about this type of thing. We ran into town because we were tired, cold and hungry. Our house was out of power. Neither of us was in a good mood, and dropping the damn box off was not something we wanted to stand in line for. There were probably 15 people ahead of us.

It wasn't our best or brightest moment.

How VZ has treated us in this issue frustrates me I am hoping consumer cellular is better. The reason for the exchange was that my daughter's iPhone, wouldn't reliably make or accept calls. It would only send texts or receive texts at random ass times. We would get 3-4 days worth of texts from her in a data dump, and she would receive the same from us.

We took it to VZ stores, called VZ #611 and they kept telling us it was a tower issue. I had to threaten to leave VZ to get them to replace the phone under warranty. The whole fucking episode has been one series of massive failures.
