Okay, I really want to get a flat top griddle. I sure hope Xantom steps in here. I am sick of trying to do pancakes or smash burgers only a few at a time on a cast iron in my kitchen on the stovetop. I want a dedicated outdoor flat top griddle.

There is nothing better than to ask the hive here that have used them. I am sure there are certain aspects people have decided were great, or they wish they had.

I have plenty of time as this will be what I ask my wife for Christmas, but I am a planner so I want to start researching now.

I am happy to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

I’ve got the large Blackstone, and it’s been fine. I got a great deal on it, but if it had been a regular price choice, I’d have gone with the Camp Chef. Mostly due to heat output and build quality.

I bought this Blackstone a couple years back and have been quite happy with it. Not too big, not too small, and portable should you want to take it somewhere.

I don't see my model on their site, but I have a 'full size' Blackstone, 2 burner.
Similar to the 22" but it's not a tabletop, it's a full fixed cart like the bigger models.

Have only really used it for fajitas, but it does a good job.

I bought a Camp Chef three burner camp stove and the griddles for it. One griddle is 24" that covers the two burners and the other is 12" which covers the third and last burner. So two separate griddles which I really like. I can do eggs on the 12" one and not get them all dirty looking and greasy from whatever meat I'm cooking on the other side. I'm fussy about my eggs. As a bonus you can remove the griddles and use it as a stove top just like your kitchen stove. Camp Chef also makes other accessories like a grill box and pizza oven that fit on the same stove. I have both of those accessories and like them both.

So much more than just a flat top. You have to get the 16" camp stove to use those accessories.

For what it's worth. I've got a pretty large cast iron griddle. I just toss it on x2 eyes of my stove or take it out and toss it on the grill when I want to do a bunch of breakfast or pancake style stuff.

Clean it up and put it away. No need for extra equipment, covers or gas tanks.

Unless you see yourself using it every other week or super often. Might be the way to go.

My Weber grill has a Griddle insert.

I use it when I want a griddle.

I take it off when I want a regular grill.

A small inconvenience, but easier than having a large grill plus a large griddle in my back yard.

I do have a cast iron griddle but it just doesn’t heat evenly in the middle on the stove across two burners. I might see if it fits in my BGE and try that. I don’t see myself using a flat top a ton, but do want to cook certain things on it.

I bought the 4 burner Camp chef with foldable legs to take with on fishing trips with family. Works well, everyone wants to cook on it. Whatever you purchase get a lid for it to help keep clean between cookings. And a nice cast iron paddle for smash burgers.

I have a 6 burner Camp Chef. You need two or possibly three people to make blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes. One person to pour the batter, one to place the blueberries or chocolate chips, and if the person pouring isn't fast enough, then a third person to flip the pancakes. I think a pan is better for scrambled eggs as the sides of the pan prevent the eggs from spreading out too far.

This is the route I took and it works remarkably well. The only issue I had was with the grease and how to dispose of it. My solution was to put a few bricks on the grill grates to elevate the griddle so I could put a small aluminum drip pan to catch the grease.

This is what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C9X4S1ZY

Hey StorminNormin!

Weather has been shit here this "Spring". I finally got the flat top going last weekend.

I have only used this one from Menards.
https://www.menards.com/main/o...1642874300142816.htm

I got it mainly because the grease trap was in the front and that works perfect for my setup. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the other name brands. The biggest thing is to get it seasoned correctly right away. Honestly it's one of the best cooking devices I have ever bought. There are so many things you can make on it.

FYI, here in central Florida, there are a TON of Blackstone grills available on Craig's list and FaceBook Marketplace, often at a very steep discount.

My sense is that a lot of people buy them on the hype, and then don't use them. Many people who are moving also sell them before the move.

We have a Blackstone at the firehouse and it has survived a couple years with the neanderthals that work there if that tells you anything.
