This Marine showed great skill is stopping the "violence." Kudos to the Marine's boss for having his back (mostly). I watched the news broadcast last night and you could see the Major (his boss?) holding back a smirk when he said "his method could be improved upon." I can think of two HS students who won't be fighting again when the Marines are on campus. I like the two-fer tackle, taking down both assailants with minor whiplash. Both punks survived and the Marines just may have recruited a few more that day! Hoora!

STOCKTON, Calif. —
The Stockton Unified School District is investigating after video released Thursday shows a Marine tackling high school students who were fighting.

The fight between two students happened Wednesday at Edison High School in Stockton. The video shows the two students throwing punches at each other before the Marine, Josue Valdez Sarmiento, sprints toward the pair and knocks the two students to the ground.

“Stockton Unified is aware of the student matter that took place on 9/11/19 at Edison High School and the recording circulating on social media. We are actively investigating the situation,“ the Stockton Unified School District said in a statement.

Valdez Sarmiento is a former student of the school. He was at the school to assist with recruitment, but he is not a recruiter, according to the U.S. Marines Corps.

“He saw a dangerous fight break out. Upon observing that situation, he moved over and broke up the fight," said U.S. Marine Maj. Thomas Driscoll. "Although, the manner in which he did (could) have been improved, we are proud of Pfc. Valdez Sarmiento for his decision to intervene."

The condition of the students is still unknown.

“It was just too excessive (of) force how he came toward the kids,” said Edison High student Johnny Hempill. “I feel like going at a kid, especially when he’s not looking, makes more of an impact.”

The Stockton Police Department said the school is handling the investigation, at this point. As part of the school’s investigation, officials are also looking into the school staff response.

It's common knowledge that "violence never solves anything" and "getting in between two people is the best way to break up a fight".

Guess those kids in CA will have to re-think those points....

Sometimes kids just need a good fight to settle their shit.

Hats off to that marine. Now, those kids know what it feels like to step into a mans world, all he did was tackle them.

When I first saw this my thought was, he picked up the spare.

Guy in the gray shirt thought it was a slap fight.

Interesting that the school staff sat around and did nothing until the Marine stepped (okay.....RAN) in.

I'm hoping the school district and PD make a "formal" investigation......and then ignore the entire affair.

I'd imagine school officials are hamstrung when it comes to ending a fight.

Yea, a teacher friend tried that and got a broken arm, nearly fired and transferred to a lame position at the technology campus when he stepped in to stop a fight at the High School where he worked. Admittedly he wasn't as well suited for the task as this Marine.
