The thread on the Cuban missile crisis reminded me of this guy who just died recently. He probably saved our lives or at least the world as we know it today. https://www.theguardian.com/wo...isaster-dies-aged-77 _______________________________________ NRA Life Member Member Isaac Walton League I wouldn't let anyone do to me what I've done to myself

Great story. Let's hope he has a counterpart in NK that uses his judgement and ignores the order.

I thought this was about the Soviet sub commander during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I remember reading about the 1983 false alarm (I spent 13 years in the USAF missile warning community after the first Gulf War, so we discussed this incident). RIP, Comrade. Just goes to show there are good men and women on both sides of most conflicts. . . Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

Lt. Col Petrov's cool head probably saved the world as we know it. Where was his Nobel Peace Prize?

The NATO Exercise ABLE ARCHER '83 in November 1983 was also another tense time with more malfunctions. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Able_Archer_83 --------------------- DJT-45/47 MAGA !!!!!
