Video is from June 2017. Don't recall seeing it before. If it works out looks like it could be a game changer over older tech....Maybe!

Seem to recall that on an older Futureweapons or something like that. If everything they are saying is true, got a hot tamale right there.

Deep magazine. That's what I'm talkin bout.

Rail guns are neat but at this point in development somewhat limited for warfare. I'd really like to see particle beam (laser) tech scaled down and improved. Zero time of flight weaponry would be much more effective against fast moving targets, especially the newer hypersonic missiles.

My public school math says that's about 1.5 miles per second muzzle velocity. A MiG-29 can go about 1520mph, per Google, so that is about ~0.42miles per second.

So for aerial targets 3 miles out (ridiculously close), that EM round would take 2 seconds from fire to intercept, and in that 2 seconds any deviation from calculated flight path would likely mean a miss, right?

I see this as a spectacular land to sea weapon (ships are sitting ducks with this), or land to land. Maybe I'm missing something?

That's why I mentioned Israel.

Tied to the Iron Dome, David's Sling and the Arrow-2, systems tracking and control, given a lot of the stuff thrown at Israel is low altitude, ballistic in nature and within few miles of the boarder.

Having another tool, at less cost than the cost of the Iron Dome missiles, available, would be very beneficial, and the data gained by putting the rail system to use would help shorten the mods required in shorter time for less money.

It would also be useful as a "fast reply" to the "shoot and scoot" tactics that are currently dealt with by drones or helicopters.

It might work well as a close quarters, passive radar track and launch weapon against aircraft, drones, or helicopters.

The guy in the sky, would never know what hit him.

What about this looking over the Straight of Hormuz? Isn't it something like 20-something miles wide? That'd be a 15 second flight time if 23 miles wide. How glorious!

Now imagine a powerful chemical laser popping missiles like balloons seconds after liftoff. Or at apogee. Or something cruising at mach 7 instantaneously.

Hopefully within our lifetime we will see handheld versions of these using plain BB's as ammo being fired out at Mach 7. God Bless Smile

Christ then I will have to read endless pages arguing whether the .177 at Mach 7 is superior to the .22 at Mach 6.....when we all know the .22 has more knock down power.

Which? Those are two different things.

Lasers have promise, but what about when it's cloudy?

Particle beam technology is nowhere near weaponizable yet.

Laser shows more promise and has actually been successfully tested. I’d love to see the tech improved upon and refined.

Cool. Only took 100 odd years to miniaturize the Paris Gun and add 1/3 range to it too.

It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.

Correct. Atmospherics tends to be the bugger of these things and then in the Middle East you have particulate matter (windblown sand).
