My hypocrisy goes only so far

Last year I started this project & got sidetracked for a bit as my wife was diagnosed with cancer.
Shes responding well to the chemotherapy and I finally got this thing finished.
I was wanting a colonial themed carving project for our three season room.
I found a photo of the painted black whale Tavern sign online and an old 60’s menu with the logo on Flea-Bay which I bought & used as a template.
After enlarging it I transferred it to a blank of poplar wood I had.
It ended up being 2’ x 4’ but after hanging it I almost wish I’d made it larger! Razz

Carving finished , paint & staining begins

That’s a whale of a good job.

I had to….

Looking at those images on a better screen shows that workmanship wasn't a fluke.

Great job.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Very nice. BTW, what's the difference between the popular wood you used and any unpopular wood that's out there?
