I stand corrected. My cold weather RATS have the grommets. I assumed that was the spec.

Well, it seems we both stand corrected, due to what is apparently a manufacturing inconsistency. I don't know why they'd omit them on the temperate, but include them on your pair of CW boots.

Are the GTX boots you have with the drainage grommets the Danners or Bates you mentioned?

They are Bates. Now that we are discussing them I am not sure if they are goretex or not. They are lined for cold weather but I got them like a decade ago when LA Police Gear was blowing them out for, I think, 29 bucks. I still have my first pair that I have beat to death. I had to super glue some areas at first that were a bit dodgy but it has held since then. I had 2 pair but realized I was never going to outlast these boots so I gave the second pair away.

I bought these Danners because, well they are Danners. Which are way better than Bates. I suppose these will be my dress RATs. Lol

Got the boots today and I agree with go half-size up. I like these enough to where I want to find some hot weather ones now I'm confident in sizing.

Have been in need of a good, reliable work boot for use around our new (to us) 13+ acres. These seem like they'll be a good match, so I ordered a pair.

Went with the recommendation of going 1/2 size up (regularly wear 10.5R and went with 11W). I'll report how they do once they arrive. For $89 shipped it seems like a good deal.

I own all kinds of Danners. I basically do agree with the sizing comments to a point. I am a 10 usually across the board other than fancy dress leather shoes. I get one "size" up too but in my mind that means I get the normal size 10 but go with the WIDE and that is plenty. I sit here at my desk looking like an idiot wearing Florida summer gear and a pair of RAT's combined with wool Darn Tough socks and just as I expected they are perfect. Going up a half size AND going to WIDE as well if you are normally a normal width seems like too much. I also placed these heel to heel with my decade plus year old Bates 10's and the Dancers are definitely longer. And they are great boots.

This convo has made me decide to get a temperate pair (goretex, no drain holes, sloped back). I now have boots for life. Unless I live to 150.

Received the size 11W pair and they're perfect. This is the non-goretex, HOT version that includes vent grommets on the side.

Got mine today. Excellent and brand new!!! Good fit as well. I usually wear a 12 EE including Danners. These are 12 XW and are GTG. I don’t think they are any heavier than my old classic Danner Acadia cop boots.

Overall a good deal.
