Heading to Cincinnati with the family (kids are 15 and 11) for 4 full days at the beginning on August. Day One is Thursday - Full day at Kings Island. Day Two is Friday - Evening Reds game Day Three - Day Four - I know we want to visit Wright Patterson AF museum. Will probably hit the Zoo also. Anything else we need to squeeze in? Cool quick experiences? Nice restaurants? We are staying at Kings Island the first two nights. Then downtown the next three nights. I know it will probably be blazing hot, but we are from Florida, so we are acclimated.

If you’re going to the AF Museum and the Zoo, you’re probably good. Might want to check out the Newport Aquarium while you’re at it. Restaurants? Lots of choices there. Steaks? Head to Ruby’s or the Precinct (they’re pretty much the same as they are owned by the same person. I prefer the Precinct, but Ruby’s just moved into a new location and looks pretty nice). You could also go into Over The Rhine. Lots of good choices there, too. If you plan on staying in Mason (where KI is), Tony’s for steaks or the Phoenician for killer Mediterranean food. _________________________ "Age does not bring wisdom. Is the AF museum a full day? A few hours? Oh yeah, we are actually staying in Newport, across the river from Cincy. Might be easy to walk to and check out.

Thank you Very little |
Food - The Ribs King -Montgomery Inn, original is up in Montgomery, but the better place is at the Boathouse on the River, get a slab, and a bib, get an Ice cold draft beer-Ted’s Amber Ale, watch the boats go up and down the Ohio. https://www.montgomeryinn.com/ Cincinnati Chili is a thang - Skyline 5 way... Cincinnati Zoo is top notch - Link

You can do the Air Force museum in 1 day if you hurry through, but really depends on the interest level of the young ones. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

When you visit the air force museum be sure to leave your pocket knife in the car. It’s a long walk. There is a great variety of quality displays there. Lots of reading if you have time. I’m partial to the first hanger. The beginnings of flight and on into WWII. “That’s what.” - She

If your downtown ( which I guess is OTR), check out Taft's. Amazing in my opinion. Old Cathedral converted into a brewery. Beautiful! Rheingeist brewery is also a cool hangout. The Barcade, can't remember the name offhand ,is a fun place to grab a drink. The Riverwalk is nice if you like walking for the benefits of walking. They also have a Wahlburger"s downtown , which is definately worth a try if you love burgers, and, haven't been to one.

Reread your initial post, and can corfirm my choices are all good for the whole family. if you take my advice on Taft's , and are there early afternoon, or less busy time, advise you to check out the 2nd level with living room type seating ,and better view of the architecture.

The AF Museum and the Zoo are great choices. If you all are soccer fans a Cincinnati FC game would be nice. The Root Beer Stand referenced in this thread is close enough to Kings Island that it is worth the 20 minute drive. https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...0601935/m/2860097105 The Old Peters Cartridge Ammo production facility was turned into a place called Cartridge Brewing. It is pretty much right behind Kings Island. https://www.cincinnati.com/sto...-brewery/2925287002/ When you are downtown The Montgomery Inn Boathouse is a must! If you want the best Fried Chicken around Galactic Chicken is just across the river. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Don’t forget Skyline Chili, although my friends from Texas refer to it as chili meat gravy on noodles. I personally believe it s nectar from the gods above.

We were in Cincinnati in February and went to the zoo and were very disappointed. There was a ton of exhibit construction and basically half the zoo was "off exhibit". Pretty much the only area that was worth going to was the African Experience. Not sure if it's finished or not, but if not I'd skip it. We did the 3 museums in the old train depot and they were very cool, though your kids might be a bit old for the children's museum.

Unfortunately going to the Cincinnati Zoo in February equates to holding the Winter Olympics in Miami. It just doesn’t work. The only time to go in the winter are the weeks surrounding Christmas because they do the Festival of Lights which is one of the greatest Christmas light displays you’ll ever see but don’t expect to see many animals. We were just at the Museum Sunday and I agree his kiddos are too old especially for the cost. They have a Lego exhibit currently that is great but still geared for the younger ones. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I'm a NYC transplant who's lived in Cincinnati for 33 years. You can easily spend the entire day at the AF Museum. It’s huge. _________________________ "Age does not bring wisdom. Often it merely changes simple stupidity into arrogant conceit. When we went to Pearl Harbour back in 2018, daughter would have been 11 at the time. There were 10 of us. My daughter was the one bringing up the rear, trying to read everything she could. When we went to the museums in DC in 2021, again, we had to rush through the end of a few because she moved so slow that we could barely finish them by 4-5pm when they closed. So I will plan a full day for the AF museum.

10mm. It's like two 40s with every shot. |
Agree with others. Full day for Wright Pat. Even then almost impossible to get it all in. For your Friday Reds game, you should consider the Museum Center at Union Terminal for your morning. https://www.cincymuseum.org Maybe you planned to do the zoo that day. But if the weather is bad, this would be a solid backup. The building itself is just incredible to look at. Since you are staying in Newport, you have the Hofbrauhaus very close. I will also second Cartridge Brewing. Very cool place and the food and beer are excellent.

Drill Here, Drill Now |
Everybody should try it once and decide for themselves whether or not to eat it again. I first had Skyline as a Purdue student visiting a friend in Cincinnati. I like the 4-way (served over spaghetti with diced onions and finely shredded cheddar cheese), but it's more of a Greek stew over spaghetti than a chili. It's definitely a unique taste with the cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg.
