Have you ever been here before? Yeah, like back in 1957. The Sharonville rootbeer stand (my wife calls it the hot dog stand. I remember when my dad used to ask me if I wanted to go to the gun shop with him. I was about 9 back then. Of course I wanted to. It hot dog and root beer. My wife calls it that because she doesn't drink root beer. So yeah, I've been there before she was born. Unhappy ammo seeker

I haven't been in a Five Guys in some time, but I have a recollection of being asked if I'd been there before. Why this is relevant, I don't know.

The gun store, a little square thing, was a block up at Reading and Kenmper. Things aren't all lost. 2 guys with a babe (!) were there today. My wife wanted to go. She wanted to go and seemed to have a good time. Looks like all girls aren't snooty (just the bad ones.) I'm on a schedule or have settled into one. Mondays are at Blinkers in Covington they advertise and are the best steak house in northern KY. Tuesday is at Longnecks for late lunch at Tuesday. Wednesday is early afternoon at Main St over by you in Miamitown. Thursday is at Roy Rogers. The other days vary. I'm old and we eat out almost every day. Its good and its fun. Maybe some places work different with their menu or system for ordering and food delivery. Some tell me their most popular item if I have never been before. _____________

I'm sure absolutely nothing has changed in all that time, and you wouldn't have any questions about what they offer, how it comes, or what it costs. You skipped over the relevant heart of the question and went straight to "I came here with my daddy before you were a twitch in your grandpa's pants." That's solid gold.
It's an industry-wide trend of ensuring someone engages the customer when they walk in instead of letting them stand there and get ignored, and it opens the dialog to two main options. Option A, where you say "No, first time." "Ok, first time, thanks for coming in! Menu's up above, everything is made fresh to order. The burgers are good sized, and the fries and drinks have free refills - soda fountain is over there. There's free roasted peanuts right next to that if you want while you wait. Take your time and let me know when you're ready to order." Option B, where you say "Yes, I've been here before." "Ok, thanks for coming back! If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer. Menu's up above, let me know when you're ready to order." Both affirm that they're grateful to have your business and that you're going to be taken care of. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

We lived out in the country when I was a kid. A&W root beer stand just off the rural highway on the way into the city. Outside service only, place the tray on the driver side partially opened window. Highlight of my young life, only open in the summer. We were pretty much working poor so at most two visits per year. Not sure which I valued more, that root beer stand or the ice cream shop in town that was also only open in summer. <>< America, Land of the Free - because of the Brave

I don’t want to make you feel old, but one of the the people that opened the restaurant in Miamitown was my Cub Scout leader in 1961. I grew up right around the corner on Hill Street. The old E. Christopher Firearms was in the old bank building, now some kind of antique store, across from the Savings & Loan.

Best Root Beer on the planet HANDS DOWN. I have not been in years. Am going to have to go next time I am in town. When I was in High School most of the cute girls from my school usually worked there or the Cone in West Chester. My girlfriend at the time went to St. Ursula and not my high school. Those two locations were off limits because I knew the girls there from school and she did not. If we went there was a lot of eye rolling by my girlfriend since these girls would talk to me but not her since they did not know her. Finneytown Graeter’s was off limits too because one of the girls would Give me free ice cream and it really pissed my girlfriend off. I tried to explain she was giving her free ice cream in the process too but that did not fly. Man brings back such great summer memories not much better than a summer evening stop at The Root Beer Stand. Ever gotten the Swamp Water?? It’s different not something to get often but good on occasion. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

The gun store, a little square thing, was a block up at Reading and Kenmper. The gun store burned down about 40 years ago, can't remember the name. For 30 years I worked about a mile north of The Root Beer stand. The business next door repaired our trucks, would walk over and get a Timmy Dog. The owner is a really nice guy!

I do service work at homes and a lot of them are for new homeowners or even their 2nd 'moving on up' home.... A lot of them have not been on the planet as long as I've been doing this work. My father took me with him to town back in about 61 to a gun store and he wanted a holster for his S&W 38... they wanted $25 for one and he could not afford it... on the way home we stopped at the five & dime for me to pick out a toy... there was a '45' cap pistol/revolver and leather holster for a whopping $3.... Father bought the cap gun for me and extended the belt on the holster for him. I now have his 38 and the holster. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"
