Should I be able to have
two directories one for business and another for personal ?

I've wondered about this also as I ditched my failing flip phone earlier this year and picked up a Moto G Play 2024 real cheap.

What I've found is an app I have NOT tried out but it's rate 4.3/5 stars over at google play called "Contacts".

Or, if you put something like "bz" in front of all your business contacts so it reads "bz Gary Powers", all you business contacts would be at the end of the B section of your phone, but still in order.

I think I may have found a better way.

I think our phones are similar but on mine, if I ignore the phone icon on my start scree and instead, swipe up--> then Contacts, it shows "All contacts v " at the top. Also there is a label tag type icon.

Tap the label icon --> "+ New Label" (under device, not your google account) --> Name it "Business" or whatever and save it.

--> open a business contact --> pencil icon at top to edit --> scroll down to "Add to Label" --> check box for "Business" --> Save

Exit out --> open Contacts--> "label" at top --> "Business". It should show only those labeled as such.

I was having problems because when I searched on how to do this, I was using the term "groups" or "directories" instead of "labels".

The downside is now you have to repeat that tens of times and but just remember to do this w/ your new contacts, it just takes a couple seconds.

It's possible my os android 14 is too different.

What's your goal? I think most phones I've seen recently allow you to designate whether a number is a personal or business number.
