I'm not laughing WITH you |
I'm looking to put up some Bluetooth speakers around our Hot Tub. I'd like a pair that I can mount high and don't have to "touch" to activate or pair, because I want to mount them high up. EDITED: Need something that is mountable to the beams that will end up being about 12' off the ground. So permanent power and the ability to link to Bluetooth without touching the speaker is a must. Any thoughts? 2023-08-10 19.33.39 by Dave Steier, on Flickr 2023-08-13 21.43.40 by Dave Steier, on Flickr 2023-08-13 21.43.12 by Dave Steier, on FlickrThis message has been edited. The set that I have, I’m not seeing them anymore. They are akin to these: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/b...9636.p?skuId=4299636 Had them for about 6-8 years, and no issues. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Prefontaine, do those require an amplifier? Rolan Kraps SASS Regulator Gainesville, Georgia. NRA Range Safety Officer NRA Certified Instructor - Pistol / Personal Protection Inside the Home

These JBL bluetooth speakers sound good. Just one would fill that space with sound. https://www.jbl.com/bluetooth-...d=bluetooth-speakers

One of my distributors carried this speaker. I have heard it and it is pretty dang good. You can string multiple if need be. Interesting and has a lot of cool features. Nuvelon Flare Speaker

I would suggest wifi enabled speakers rather than bluetooth speakers. They can operate much more independently and they do not require the source to be in the vicinity. And you can use your phone for other things while the music is playing. Do you use any other home automation systems, ie. Amazon Alexa? We don't have Alexa (don't really want a spy in the house). Rolan Kraps SASS Regulator Gainesville, Georgia. NRA Range Safety Officer NRA Certified Instructor - Pistol / Personal Protection Inside the Home

I use a Sonos wifi amplifier powering a pair of Klipsch outdoor speakers. No touch, true stereo, controlled through the phone. Sonos may have powered outdoor speakers which will do the same function without the amp. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . Tbh, if you mount them as described they will either need power or need to be recharged. Wife and i have something akin to the portable shown above. Been working great for the last three or four years and can be brought out when away from the house. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Correct. Either will need to wire an outlet up there to plug in AC adapters or will need to run an extension cord/power strip. Or get yourself a bluetooth or wireless receiver/amp and run speaker wire to 2 dumb speakers. These are not cheap but I think will provide the best sound. Or you could find a used, cheap receiver and plug a bluetooth adapter into an aux input. Or abandon trying to mount them up high. Perhaps mount them on the corner posts since there is already power near the post at the house. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

Buy that Classic SIG in All Stainless, No rail wear will be painless. |
I got my girlfriend this JBL 310 Party Box for her birthday. We use it for parties, at the cabin, and when detailing cars/trucks/motorcycles in the driveway. It pairs (Bluetooth) easily to a smart phone/tablet/iPod. https://www.jbl.com/party-spea...?cgid=party-speakers It is IPX4 rated. (splash & rain proof) At 240 watts of output power, and when we do listen to AC/DC, so do all of the neighbors. It is just like a large piece of luggage, wheels on the bottom and a handle that pops out of the top. It has it's own internal battery and will operate for 18 hours. It has it's own onboard charger as well. Just wheel it up near a 120 volt outlet and plug it in for a charge. NRA Benefactor Life Member NRA Instructor USPSA Chief Range Officer

I have Polk Atrium speakers, mounted under my soffit, connected to a Sonos Amp and I’m 100% pleased. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

Yup. I know you said Bluetooth but hardwired is better. I looked at your pic and either your house or garage is right next to that area so a pair of speaker wires is much easier to run that an electric outlet. Yeah you need an amp but they aren’t expensive. To power a nice set of outdoor speakers $200-250 I bet. And the newer ones have Bluetooth, WiFi, etc, built into it so you could literally control it with your phone or Ipad or whatever. I went through the same decision years ago and decided hardwiring was better. You get better long lasting speakers that way that will last you permanently, more or less. As long as the amp is not sitting outside, more or less the same. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Def Tech outdoor speakers here with a Sonos amp on the deck. Great sound and ease of use. Not the cheapest setup but one of the best.

Not sure which are outdoor, but here is consumer reports thoughts on wireless speakers. The higher the number the better the review. And sorry, but, using my phone I unfortunately posted the pictures in reverse order. Hence, the last one are the highest rated.

I use wifi. I actually had to run an outdoor wifi device outside because my house has aluminum siding that, apparently, works like a faraday cage. The Sonos Amp itself is actually in my basement by the internet stuff, plugged in with Ethernet. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Sorry, I should apologize. I know you said Bluetooth. I have found that for me, the Sonos app to be far superior to using Bluetooth as a means of controlling speakers and music, but didn’t explain myself. That being said, I have a patio with this particular audio setup that I listed above, and was able to do all of the work myself, but didn’t stay within your requested parameters. The wifi thing was major for me though, as I didn’t want to always stream over cellular into a Bluetooth speaker, due to the lousy connectivity out there. Once I decided that I would need better wifi signal, the rest fell into place. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

Sonos has an outdoor speaker. I don't know the model, but it is not the OneSL contained in the Consumer Reports ratings you posted. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell
