They have a clue however a standoff is not a resolution. Right now, my SO goes to her federal job every day but hasn't been paid in over a month. Her work is similar to the essential nature of an aircraft controller. So when people say, "Let this go on forever because I'm not directly impacted." I just shake my head. Bills need to be paid, like everyone else. The Repubs are holding high cards on this because the Dems knew the subsidies were going to end when they passed the law but the Dems want to avoid a policy discussion with an outright reinstatement of the subsidies. The only solution at the moment is for Schumer to agree to a 6 month CR and the Repubs will fund the subsidies for 6 months. At that point it will be time to work on the new budget and each side can state their case and negotiate. At the moment, the proposed CR would only fund to Nov 21 so it makes more sense to pass a longer CR.

I had Grok summarize the two rulings and the political affiliations of the two federal judges involved in rulings against the Trump administration's SNAP funding restrictions during the 2025 government shutdown: Both are Democratic-affiliated judges nominated by Obama. BTW, The Trump administration appealed these to the First Circuit Court of Appeals, which includes some Republican appointees (e.g., William J. Kayatta Jr. by Trump, Jeffrey R. Howard by G.W. Bush), but as of November 7, 2025, no appellate rulings have been issued, and lower-court cases remain confined to these Obama judges. Washington State has 8 million people and 900,000 get SNAP Benefits. With the Democratic machine we have here that number's going to rise.
"As of Friday afternoon, more than 250,000 households had received their full November food assistance benefits, DSHS said." "In a statement on Friday, Gov. Bob Ferguson said the future of the benefits remains uncertain. "So far, households that were scheduled to receive their monthly benefits between Nov. 1 and Nov. 7 have received 100 percent of their SNAP benefits for November. That is more than 250,000 households across Washington." https://komonews.com/news/loca...enefits-for-november ____________________________________________________ The butcher with the sharpest knife has the warmest heart.

When 1/8 people can't/won't earn enough to feed themselves you have a major problem. It's not just Washington State. It's a country creating a culture of welfare dependency. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

The Republicans tend to be spineless in the face of legacy media propaganda. They always cave in despite having the high ground. Trump doesn't do that, and he succeeds. In this situation, Schumer wants what is unpopular with the public. So far the Senate Republicans have played it right, holding votes on the CR and offering future votes on stand-alone issues. That's a winning strategy, not a stand-off. If the Senate were 50/50 R and D, that might be a stand-off. What we have now is the minority holding the country hostage, using citizens' pain as leverage. Giving into them is like paying an extortionist. They learn they can get what they want, and they'll keep coming back for more.

When all the people that are abusing the food stamp program start eating each other wholesale, let me know, until that time, leave the govt shutdown. Most people have the ability to make it though this if one spouse is not getting paid, it might cost interest in short term debt, but they back pay will be paid. Sometimes, eating the shit sandwich is what you have to do. I will not be a good hostage. If anyone has serious issue with this POV, email me, I have experience in this. https://x.com/FLVoiceNews/status/1986911623441682552 There’s another reason Republican Senators (and also Democrats) want to keep the filibuster. It gives them cover for clandestinely opposing a presidential priority. They can safely support a bill the President wants, but which they don’t. He’ll never know of their lack of real support, because GOP Senators can just blame their inaction on a filibuster fail. Sorry, we tried. The filibuster was never meant to be a minority veto. As the clip above explained, it was originally designed to slow down debate. Not stop debate. The current silent filibuster rule is, in fact, a malignant mutation that stops debate in its tracks and acts as a minority veto. None of that is constitutional. https://www.coffeeandcovid.com...rue&utm_medium=email "Some things are apparent. https://www.gunowners.org/na110525/ "Destroying the filibuster would be a disaster for the Second Amendment. The truth is, the filibuster is the critical tool that GOA has used for years to DEFEAT: Mandatory gun registration Bans on common firearms Crushing restrictions on gun shows National gun confiscation laws And countless other gun-grabbing schemes If the filibuster falls, no matter who demands it, the gun control crowd in Congress will ram every radical gun control bill into law. If the filibuster is nuked, there will be nothing left to stop a flood of anti-gun legislation." __________________________________________________________________________________ https://app.oneclickpolitics.c...RnvyMw4k3vj71ocPXAha Their sign&send letter to your Senator: "As a proud gun owner and constituent, I’m urging you to take bold action to preserve the Senate filibuster, a tool responsible for stopping wave after wave of radical gun control. For decades, the filibuster has been the ONLY thing standing between the American people and dangerous attempts to force mandatory gun registration, bans on commonly-owned firearms, and federal restrictions on gun shows. According to Gun Owners of America, without the filibuster, these attacks on the Second Amendment would have sailed through Congress and become law. Anti-gun senators know this – and that’s why they’re so desperate to nuke the filibuster. Senator, I’m calling on you to enshrine the filibuster into law, making it permanent and untouchable. Make the filibuster the law of the land – by constitutional amendment, if need be – so that NO future Senate majority, Republican or Democrat, can shred the rights of millions with a single vote. But if Democrats refuse to codify the filibuster, then it’s clear they’ll nuke it the moment they regain power. So Republicans should nuke the filibuster first and pass pro-gun legislation, like reciprocity."

There appears to be an end in sight: https://apnews.com/article/gov...61da72395b604d9540e8 In summary, 8 Senate Democrats have split from their party and voted in support of a deal to end the shutdown and fund the government through January, reaching the 60 total votes needed to pass. They compromised in exchange for a guaranteed vote on extending Healthcare marketplace subsidies to be held in December, as well as a reversal of any layoffs during the shutdown. And this deal does include back pay for federal employees who have been either furloighed or working without pay. The final vote will likely be held within days, followed by a House vote and then sending it to the President. And then we get to do it all again in January...

At this point, it doesn't matter how soon we go back to work. It's going on 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving now and Christmas coming nearly 30 days later. Only 33 Working Days as of 11/11/2025 remaining in the year and everyone in Govt has "Use or Lose" vacation to burn and it will take weeks to months to get caught up with all the backlog of work, authorize payments, and new contracts. Nothing meaningful will get done prior to JAN 2026. It didn't have to be this way, but decisions made well above my pay grade. We were told to stand down even though we had 2 year money in hand to pay personnel. This whole shutdown was about Forcing Change regardless of the ass pain it caused. I've been with Gov now for over 15 years, same crap, different channel. ---------- “Nobody can ever take your integrity away from you. Only you can give up your integrity.” H.
