We're getting the back end of the front, and a bit of rain. Looks like I'll have to drip a couple of hoses for 3 nights running.

18° here in Kalispell @ 7pm, down from low 40’s when we went to church earlier. Looking for -15° Tuesday night. February sucks in Montana and South Dakota.

Agree Mike. February is the COLDEST month here.

The severe cold front is almost here. Temps have started to drop from the unseasonable 52° we enjoyed today. Damn. Frown

Forecast models vary but since I used this one with my opening post, here it is currently:

This ought to be fun. Now calling for 1-2 inches of ice accumulation, starting tomorrow morning.

Has all the makings for a disastrous ice storm, ala the last big one in 2009, where basically the entire area lost power for 3+ days (and some areas for weeks) after over an inch of ice accumulated.

Ice storms suck. They may look pretty with a glaze over everything but damn they are dangerous. Hoping you are spared severity RogueJSK.

Windchill here is getting insane. Expecting -40° later today and record cold overnight. Eek

It was -5 when I got up this morning. Only got to 3 above today. It's 330 and we're at zero. The wood stove can't even keep up, my furnace has been kicking on and off all day.

The Noaa sites in RC and SF say -17 and -11 tonight. Not sure what they are forecasting in DW. But those temps are nowhere near records.

The NOAA site for RC is miles east of the city at the airport. Wx in town and in the hills can and usually is different with temperature inversions, etc. There are official sites in those areas which report conditions.

And FWIW the record low for this date at NOAA RC of -10° set in 1965 WAS BROKEN overnight!
