I'm always trying out new beers without any thought to the seasons. Last night I had a special edition Belgium trippel from New Belgium that was really good. I also recently had a seasonal brew called Bigfoot from Sierra Nevada, very flavorful, with a high abv. Not much of a beer drinker but I do like Grolsch Premium Dutch Lager. I've got a few in the fridge and I might just go grab one now.

I love this stuff. Especially the Dunkel. The first dark wheat beer I had was in Germany last year and I was glad to find this locally. Apart from that I tend to switch from darker, maltier beers in winter (stouts, bocks, etc) to easy drinking wheat beers in summer. I get a lot of crap from apparent beer snobs that seem to think IPAs actually taste good, because I drink fruity beers in summer. Meanwhile the IPAs taste like potpourri. My favorite last summer was Harpoon Camp Wannamango. I love Harpoon's UFO beers. Just had an apricot wheat last night that was awesome. I think it was called Apricadabra. These go to eleven.

Trumer Pils, Firestone 805, and North Coast Scrimshaw are year rounders that are pleasing during the warmer months. 21st Amendment Hell or Highwatermelon is a great summer beer. I also lean towards sours.

Yeah. I’m not a big drinker. 2-4 probably every other weekend. I do love it though. ----------------------------------------------------------- TCB all the time...

I was excited to Trumer Pils here. It started out great. Fantastic stuff, but I got a hold of some that was skunky as hell. If I saw a single I'd get it hoping it would return to greatness. Alas, still skunky. They must not be shipping it out here to Colorado in refrigerated trucks. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

"Skunkiness" is caused by exposure to UV light. Not by age or temperature swings. I see that Trumer Pils comes in a green bottle. Green glass provides no protection from UV light. (Neither does blue or clear glass.) As little as 30 seconds of sunlight exposure in a green bottle can be enough to skunk a beer. Brown glass bottles, on the other hand, provide some protection from sunlight. That's why the majority of beers come in brown bottles these days. I have no idea why certain manufacturers insist on sticking to green, blue, or clear glass, to the detriment of their beers. If you want a Trumer Pils that's guaranteed not to be skunky, get it in a can or from a keg.
