In the summer, Cheerios with honey drizzled over it.

In the winter either oatmeal or cream of wheat with brown sugar mixed in

Cap'n Crunch! But we didn't get it all the time, because sometimes Dad did the shopping. Dad had Juvenile Diabetes (now called Type 1 Diabetes), so I had a lot of plain Cheerios instead.

Lucky me was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in '85, so it's been longer than that since I enjoyed the Cap'n's truly wonderful cereal. Big Grin

Fountain Town, Indiana
While building the third home of 13 homes in my life pre-Marine Corps life& what my father refers to as the “large home” in 1976,
My father took me to the project site multiple times as a child.
After or prior to the sight visit we would stop by a local dinner in Fountian Town & I would get sausage gravy over biscuits.

To this day that dish evokes memories from a child feeling like a big guy , surrounded by older calluses farmers who chose to engage a small child in conversation & a child who never forgot that experience.
That dish is permanently connected to a wonderful experience.

Soft boiled eggs with toasted bread "soldiers" to dunk.
Usually in winter, on a weekend or holiday.
The memory makes me feel happy, simple as that.

Banh cuon.

Every morning, the breakfast lady would carry her stuff and sell around the neighborhood. Ma would buy me banh cuon. Still fondly remember those days. Cool

I am yes, will be here another 14 months at least.

We just had dining restrictions lifted last couple weeks and we’ve been out no less than 10 times at least. I absolutely love the food here. Always have.

I’m not a fan of bulgogi (it’s good but I just like different meats) but my wife tears up Samgyupsal like nothing else.

When I was a kid I loved Peanut butter Captain Crunch... though I rarely ate it for breakfast. I hated eating breakfast and only did when forced. It wasn't until I was about 30 that eating in the morning didn't make me feel sick.

When I got to spend the summer at my grandmother's she'd make fresh flour tortillas and refried beans or chorizo and eggs. There's nothing like waking up to that smell.

Pancakes, eggs, and bacon with maple syrup was my absolute favorite, but breakfasts like that were rarer than hens’ teeth around our house. Therefore, various cereals were our usual breakfast of choice so I most often joined Mikey (“He won’t eat it! He won’t eat anything!”) in enjoying a bowl of Life.

Malt-O-Meal - Yum
My father was a Salesman for Malt-O-Meal - We ate it often and even used his samples for traction in the winter on our sloped driveway. Birds loved it in the spring.

Here are a couple Pens with samples of Malt-O-Meal in the ends with a magnifier.

I honestly don’t remember a favorite. I know we usually had a box of Wheaties in the house, and I had that pretty often. I recall liking Maypo for hot cereal. Pancakes and bacon.

Saturday mornings meant watching cartoons on TV while my parents slept in, and eating cereal out of the designated "cereal cup" (a large, deep plastic cup) with a long-handled spoon.

It was usually Honey Nut Cheerios or Corn Chex, but varied from time to time.
