Wife is scheduled for surgery voting day. I will be out of town all day.
Tennessee is solid red, my precinct always votes nearly 2 to one Republican.
I have never done early or absentee voting.

Question:
Do I still need to do my duty and vote.

Choices:
Yes.
No… You get a free pass THIS time.

I think you should vote if at all possible. Elections aren't decided by geography. If you have early voting I suggest you avail yourselves of it.

This! I’ve lived in Massachusetts and Illinois. My vote doesn’t count in either state but I feel I should do everything possible to vote.

I'd vote early or absentee - why not?

I encourage you to vote and I hope that no votes are lost because someone may feel it is a lock or lost cause.

I don't care if my leftist Seattle living Niece who hates my guts needed a ride to the polls to vote for evil. I'd give her the ride. I'd also listen to Lee Greenwood and take the route where the Trump supporters are lined up.

Yes.

There’s more at stake than just the White House. Some local races can often be decided by a few votes. I too live in a deep red state, but I still will vote every time. And I do want a say to school boards, local and state offices.

Despite being in deep red areas, there are still worthless politicians that are in need of replacement.

Both you and your wife should vote early.

It's not just about "winning", but winning with such a margin to prove a point.

And there's this along with other local issues that may be on the ballot.

Go vote early in person.

The only time I didn’t vote, was when I was in the hospital due to my stroke.

In this election cycle, IMO the most important in modern history, if you are able to vote early, DO IT.

To sit it out, when so much is at stake, should be a life-saving last resort.

VOTE!

President Trump will be elected by the Electoral College.

But he also needs to win the popular vote, if only so we don’t have to listen to the Dems whinging about “He’s illegitimate. He didn’t win the popular vote.” Just like post-2016.

So VOTE!

Please vote. Go early or get an absentee ballot. I don't know your state but you should be able to get a absentee ballot you can mail in.

It matters.

I say do your best to figure out how you and her get to vote.

I also wouldn't hold it against you if you didn't. I would just be disappointed.

Early voting is easy. I typically go on voting day, but in 2016 I was in the academy and had to go early. Our polling center was in the courthouse. Line wasn't much longer than my regular place (like 5-6 people) and I was out of there in 15 minutes. Super easy and totally worth it.

Are there local issues down ballot? Those might matter. School board, county stuff, etc. I’m a permanent absentee voter. They mail my ballot early October.

If you're available to do it, then do so. down ballot votes are actually more important this year.
