Just remember, those mileage estimates haven't been verified by independent reviews yet, so you might want to take them with a grain of salt at this point.
Good looking car.....by the time we are looking for a family car (current being an '19 X3)maybe they will have something similar in price range we can consider.
I think having an EV in the stable makes sense if you can afford one as a secondary car or if I lived in a major city and only did short trips but CURRENTLY they don't make sense for ME as a primary car.
But I am sure that will change...or else we would still all be driving steam powered cars with no seat belts

Not only a top seller, but it got Porsche off the edge of bankruptcy

Not a hater, just being practical that the technology is not there yet. I live in Alaska, it's roughly 380 miles from Anchorage to Fairbanks, it's snowing outside and currently 11 degrees. To my knowledge there is no dedicated charging site between Anchorage and Fairbanks. I wouldn't feel comfortable getting in an EV and trying to make that drive today.

Funny I remember when similar comments were made about Porsche losing it's mind when it rolled out the Cayenne SUV, how dare they, management is wrong, nobody wants a Porsche SUV, except, people did, and it outsells everything they make, pretty soon Lamborghini jumped in, Bentley, people want the make, and the vehicle.
Those hot rods would be bought up by speculators, as well has dealers marking them up like C8 Z06 cars into the stratosphere range, where few can afford to play, same as the GT 350 or GT 500's . Who knows Ford may just release a super hyper mustang Boss-E...
Interesting take though on the Mustang-E failures considering yet it's the second highest selling EV behind the Tesla Y, and, most dealers are sold out, and, they are commanding premium prices.
Porsche didn’t call their SUV a 911 Turbo-U now did they?

The F-150 is cool as hell and I've owned 6 F-150s. The Rimac is cool too, but not my cup of tea.
I think if you are only concerned with your environmental impact, a used car from the 90s that weighs considerably less than a car from 2021 and is a "sunk cost" environmentally would be a better choice, no?
Something like a 1997 or so Toyota Corolla that gets 30 MPG?
I have a Honda ACTY that I use for all of my local errands and a 2001 Dodge Cummins for long trips and hauling. Both are old, reliable, and have a much lower carbon footprint than buying a new EV every few years.
Or maybe one of the used diesels form Europe ...I am still pissed that we can't get something like the A6 or 335d here anymore...or how about a real HiLux
Porsche didn’t call their SUV a 911 Turbo-U now did they?
True, but the point is the same, old school purists vs non traditional products.
Didn't say that the traditionalists were wrong in their bias, just that it's been done before, and with some success.
Calling an EV SUV a mustang and Porsche building an SUV have similar patterns of people disliking the move. Heck the Porsche purists went nuts when they water cooled the 911 line...

Well. This is an EV hater thread although I think they are cool. RC car fan since the late 80's.
Just want the facts: Draw on the currently collapsing grid, lithium (and beyond) mines, waste from all the dead batteries, accident and fire suppression methods. .Gov intervention and control.
This is being run like a long term COVID program and I'm not impressed.
I love the idea, I hate the execution and lack of foresight.

There are a few apps which show you where they are, and what speeds. PlugShare and ChargePoint are the 2 most comprehensive. Between these two there are a number of charging sites between. Tesla only has a supercharger in Soldotna. With temp degradation I also would be hesitant

Perhaps a better comparison would have been the Porsche Panamera four-door sport coupe and it’s issues with the Porsche faithful

My 11yo says the Panamera looks like someone took a giant hammer and smushed a Porsche SUV. At least Porsche didn't dilute the name of their iconic vehicle by slapping it on some completely unrelated vehicle.
Ford should have called it the Model E. Oh wait, that naming scheme has been appropriated by another company. It could have been the E-bird. The Super Dut-E. The Taurus SHOE. The Bronc-E.

Ford has the “Model E” trademark. That’s why Tesla is the Model 3

One source you say? And a source that's commercially available for sale to the highest automotive bidder on virtually anything. Motortrend has less credibility at this point than the National Inquirer does when reporting on 'news' stories. There are dozens upon dozens of automotive reviewers waiting to get their hands on these. When they all have had a chance to put this thing through its paces, I'll look at all the their results and see where that leads us. Until then, their mileage claims are just that.

I didn't look at every previous post of the nine pages so far in the thread. If any of the following has already been said previously...well, too bad.
One positive about EVs: you won't have any anxiety regarding catalytic convertor theft.
One negative, naturally to keep it balanced: of course you can simply and easily burn down your house if the car's lithium batteries decide to call it a life and do a melt down. As in the case when your car has had an impact serious enough to affect the integrity of the power cells. Seems to be an ever increasing thing with Teslas...kinda like the batteries of Sony laptops and Samsung smartphones lighting themselves up, only without the crash.

I'm waiting for Dyson to make a "safety yellow" air propulsion car.
Would go by you with a huge "Whoosh".
There isn't a person on this forum that can make an argument against EVs simply for being electric. They can argue the BS politics that comes with it.
Me, I'm practical, if over the course of its life an EV car can save me considerable money on fuel and still accomplish all required tasks, then I have no problems.
I'm not gonna buy one to save the planet or some shit, but options are nice in any arena, including vehicles.
10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

Interesting, sort of begs the question why Ford didn't complain about the Model S which they actually did make: the Model S Roadster even.

Got to keep up with the 1974 Pinto, yo. Nothing new here, it's been done before, with older technology.

Did you know Ford made a nuclear powered concept car? What a forward thinking company! I cannot for the life of me understand why this didn’t take off and revolutionize the auto industry.

Imagine the explosions that could happen if they would just resurrect the Pinto as a nuclear powered car.

The small nuclear reactor powered a steam engine all located at the rear of the car. You have to give Ford credit. Even with the clearly obvious issues such a vehicle would bring Ford still decided to deign a concept.
