Tesla says their battery will run the heater something between 24-36 hours.

I saw where a guy with a Model3 got stuck in that. Heat @ 66 & seat warmers on low. He was stuck for 11 hours and used about %1 a hour. Car has "Camp Mode" where you can set interior temp and hang out.

Could even pull up Netflix and hang out and watch some shows as long as you are comfortable with amount of charge.

With a blanket and running only a seat warmer drawing 50w / hour. On a full 82KWh battery. You could hang out for around 60 days.

That’s quite interesting. Basically it’s no bigger deal than an ICE vehicle then and maybe better.

Realistically has anyone been stuck in their car longer than a day or two. If a full Tesla battery will keep you going for 60 days I would guess 1/4 full would easily get you 10 days. Pretty sure of you’re in your car for that long you have much bigger problems.

If true it’s another anti EV debunked.

Only issue is making sure you have enough juice to get to the nearest Lvl 2 or Lvl 3 charger so you can get home. There are usually somewhere around 100 in most major cities. Not counting the Super Chargers.

Almost anywhere rural America there are farms. I can walked up to almost any American farm and pay/ask for a gallon or two of gasoline and guaranteed I’ll have it. Try doing that with a jar of electricity. Big Grin
Yeah, and I don't usually carry my Leyden jars with me, anyway. Big Grin

If they'd sell/give you a gallon of gas, don't you think they'd also be willing to let you plug in for a few minutes?

Different assumptions I assume.

Assuming you’re out of fuel.

How are you going to push your Tesla to a farm after sitting on the highway and using up all the juice?

I can walk several miles and carry at least 5 gallons (worth 100 miles of travel easy) back to my car. I could even drive to refill the can and take it back to the farmer … and be on my way. Not really all that much work.

Ah you're right, we made different assumptions about when you might need an "emergency top off"

I assumed that one would top off when the gauge read zero and you'd need enough to make it to the next fueling destination. It didn't occur to me that one would ignore their gauges and run their car until it just stopped. I don't think I've done that since high school when I tried to go as far as I could between fill-ups...even at $0.20/gal, making $1.65/hr didn't go that far.

When a Tesla's power meter reads zero, there is a reserve of 10-20 miles so that you could hopefully reach the next charging station. If I was further away than that from a charging station, when my gauge went to zero, I'd pull up at a farm and ask to plug in.

Ok

My car carries a 2 gallon reserve (as well). After the gauge to goes to zero.

So … ???

I suppose we agree… Although I simply don’t have any anxiety about running out of fuel because I know it’s really available, easily.

Until the goobers change the rules and impose their new health mandates for … wait for it … Mother Gaia climate change initiatives to heal the world and mend the oceans. Sounds familiar?
