Actually proof of two things, people have too much money and BAT is way overpriced. I present exhibition A to the jury:

How is Bring A Trailer overpriced if it’s an auction site where people intentionally bid more than others to win an item they want?

Looks like a nice build, but no way I'd spend that for it.
I'd just buy a pre-DEF Duramax & pocket the rest.

It's an auction site though... Someone really wanted that truck.

The answer to this thread that would make sense is how much of this does Bring A Trailer take as a fee compared to other auction sites. Otherwise, someone really wanted a Dodge Power Wagon and was willing to pay for it.

Restomods are hot in todays market, people want retro looking vehicles, like that Dodge, or vintage muscle cars with modern underpinnings.

Newer chassis, electronics, better mechanical, modern engines, and they pay big bucks for them.

BAT takes much less than the more established auction companies. It’s just that they have a tremendous online exposure and the more eyeballs the better.

It'd be interesting to see how many people actually follow through with the purchase. $155k for that seems just slightly excessive.

The wording may be wrong (stating it is overpriced) but you get the point. You guys act like 155k for a used dodge is normal.

BTW, if you think that is abnormal it is not, almost everything listed there sells high.

I would rather have a used dodge than a pile of bitcoin, or some shares in gamestop.

Pretty sure there's an auction site where Guns are 'brokered' and similarly, you'll often see items selling at ridiculous levels, or even WAY Overpriced because someone REALLY wanted it... Wink

I don’t see a problem with it. This sounds like a good thing for sellers, and nobody’s holding a gun on the bidders to make them bid. Free enterprise, offer and acceptance, invisible hand of the marketplace, and all that…
I agree that the price is excessive, FWIW. But BAT didn’t set the sales price.

BAT gets 5% up to 100k. So a max of 5,000. Most auctions get 10-15% of the total sale price.

I have bid on three cars on BAT and got blown out of the water three times.

These were regular vehicles that were easy to look up the value of.

This is in no way that BAT is overpriced.
It is a medium that brings buyers and sellers together.
If BAT charges an excessive fee then that is one thing.
To say a particular site is overpriced because of one vehicle is beyond ridiculous. Roll Eyes
