H&M Closes Stores In South Africa After 'Anti-Racism' Protesters Topple Mannequins, Trash Clothing Displays
Retailer suffered backlash after an ad showed a black child wearing a shirt that read, "coolest monkey in the jungle."

Fast fashion retailer H&M was forced to close stores in South Africa over the weekend, after a group of "anti-racism" demonstrators protested through the outlets, toppling mannequins, overturning clothing racks, and leaving a wave of destruction in their wake.

Last week, H&M found itself in trouble after they released an ad showing a black child dressed in a shirt that read, "Coolest Monkey in the Jungle." After social media users pointed out the photo's racist implications, H&M apologized in an emailed statement, claiming that they'd made a horrible mistake, and vowing to be more conscious when putting together future ads.

The apology was not enough for some, however, and on Saturday, members of the Economic Freedom Fighters, a South African political party, gathered to protest outside H&M stores across the country — and things quickly went off the rails.

As part of their "protests," some EFF members turned violent and rampaged through the stores, destroying displays and strewing clothes across the floor. Twitter users captured the chaos on video.

To be fair, I saw a photo of the same kid in one that said coolest lion in the jungle. But yeah, whomever let that by wasn't thinking.

At one store they tried to loot it and the police used rubber bullets on them.

Wasn't thinking in terms of race you mean.

Next time the ad people should try to be a little more racist by not hiring any black children at all. If they had, they wouldn't have had any problems.

Good for H&M pulling out, no need for the going tribal reaction. But then again, resorting to a pattern of violence. Shithole cuts to the chase.

But no one should be "nervous" about "taking" land from white landowners in South Africa.

"The ANC decided at its conference in December that it would propose amendments to the Constitution to seize land without compensation to speed up the process of giving black people more land after the were disposed during white rule. The party said this will only be done in a manner that doesn’t harm the economy, agricultural production or food security."

There are some who think they are advancing an agenda of anti-racism but they are only fueling more hate and only looking for an excuse to riot.

Riots, looting and burning seem to be the best ways to deal with racism. Afterwards everyone will see what wonderful people you really are and they'll wonder how they ever had anything but warm fuzzy feelings about you.

Guess the looters will have to buy their hoodies elsewhere in the future.
