Rob Zombie
I went to an Ozzy concert where Zombie was the last opening act. I had zero interest. 60 seconds into his show, there was no way I was gonna leave to get a beer. He was fantastic.

For years, I vowed to never join a social media platform and I never did a the time, even MySpace. But last year joined X/Twitter, obviously after Elon Musk acquired it. No regrets.

Onions. I detest onions. If I was President I would outlaw onions.

But, my favorite soups require an onion so I have the wife blend the onion up very small and sauté them before I add them to the mix. This way they soup gets the flavor and the tiny onion isn't so noticeable.

I hate onions.

How does that cost compare with free food and housing for fifty years?

Excellent post! Yes. When I was in my youth I HATED Schnauzer and poodle dogs. Fast forward a decade or two and one of my best friends on this planet is a Schnoodle (Schnauzer Poodle mix).

She is absolutely gorgeous, athletic, highly intelligent and I realize now my opinion was totally wrong. Big Grin

with all of the appeals and everything, the death penalty is more expensive than 80 years in.

A lawyer friend of mine retired not long ago. His job was representing the state in death penalty appeals. His salary was substantial, and that was just the tip of the iceberg re the cost of managing death penalty cases.

Wasn't it made clear to you that this thread would be devoid of politics?

And here we are now, with members responding to this crap.

The OP told you and I backed him up. What was not clear?

Mayonnaise. I grew up in the Upper Midwest and never liked that vile, slimy condiment. That includes Helmann's, Kraft, Gordon's Food Service, etc. Then, I moved to Texas and a Sigforumite raved about Duke's so I tried it. Now it's in my fridge as close to 365 days a year as possible. I had a turkey sandwich with it just yesterday.

Brussel sprouts. To be fair, my Dad hates them so Mom never made them growing up and the only time I had them were boiled or microwaved. Then, I went to a steakhouse in Calgary, and my GF talked me into getting grilled brussel sprouts. Now, oven roasted or smoked are a regular staple, and I even grew brussel sprouts in my garden this winter.

Along the lines of food and drink, I'll chime in again to say that I changed my mind about Scotch a couple years ago.

I tried it to see what all the fuss was about in popular culture and thought it was the worst thing I ever tasted.

Mentioned it to a friend who made a recommendation, and I've found two or three that I really like now. Top of my list is Talisker 10yr., with Jonnie Walker Green as a close second.

Enjoying mushrooms or calamari. Absolutely hated and refused to try either most of my life, but now I will eat them. Sorry, but I still can’t do escargot or caviar.

I never thought I would live this long but here I am.
And I really mean that. My dad died at 63 and I am closing in on 74 in June.
I never thought I would make it this far.

Same here in a way. Not that I had my mind set against it, but knew nothing of it and would have said no thanks if asked. One day I was taken by a new boss, so I wasn’t going to say no, to a great place local and my first dish wasn’t Pho, but I loved it. Then I had Pho, and freaking love it!

I’ve had a few changes in my life but the two most notable are divorce and joining a country club.
I never dreamed I’d get a divorce but my ex wife left me while I was out of town working. I was devastated but after a lot of prayer and tremendous family and friends I realized I was much better off without my ex wife. Then God sent a wonderful lady into my life who is now my wife and best friend.
The country club thing always seemed like a waste and I said I’d never join even if I could afford it. However later in life the local club ran a special for new members under 40 so I decided to sign up. My family loves the pool and all of the amenities. I don’t play that much golf because if it’s nice weather and I’m not working my real job I’m doing something around the farm or something with my family.

I never thought money was something that would become an issue with my immediate family. Dad has passed and mom has dementia. My sister whom I’m becoming irritated with more by the day has made money a “wedge” in our family.

I had a similar experience with pit bulls. Early in my career, only drug dealers had pit bulls, and the dogs seemed particularly aggressive. I decided I would never have one and preferred German shepherds. Years later, the ex-wife demanded to keep a pit bull puppy her niece dumped on us. It was the best damn dog. My son was young at the time, and the dog was very attentive to him. These dogs are loving, loyal, playful, protective, and have wonderful senses of humor. Now, pit bulls are the only breed I adopt.
