The DEET will eat plastic and some paint. Is that why it cleans? I'd be very leery of that one.

That may be same approach as Wipe New. I understand that it has a chemical in it that dissolves the exterior surface of the plastic on headlights.

For streak-fee windows, I use a good non-ammonia glass cleaner and newspaper. I don't know the science behind why it works so well, but it does.

I'll tear off a section or two of (mostly) black & white newsprint, ball it up a bit, then spread and double it like I would a couple of paper towels or cloth, and wipe as I would with either of the other products. Some elbow grease is still necessary on windows that haven't been cleaned in a while.

I use Sprayway glass cleaner and a microfiber towel. Works pretty well. Always flip the towel over so you are using a dry towel.

I can wash it and dry it multiple times with different products and techniques, and all I seem to do is smear it around.

And cgode is right, it can look pretty good until you drive at night or it gets a little humid inside the cabin.
Very true . That fog that comes from the vinyl dash is a real pain.

For truly cleaning the inside windshield, especially from outgassing dashes, try Porsche Inside Glass Cleaner, 100ml
999-901-064-40-OEM.

You can get online from Pelican Parts, or stop by a Porsche dealership. Not cheap, but it is hands down the most amazing glass cleaner. You WILL thank me.

As I said in my previous post, try the norwex rags and forget the rest. It is so much less hassle and so easy to do that it is a NO BRAINER.

Sprayway is what my friend’s glass shop always used.
