I did search on forum for info not very much posted, so here goes.

This spring will need new tires for my 2013 Silerado 1500 LT Z71 tire size P265/65R18. I have done my research on the different brands and have chosen the Michelin Defender unless someone knows better than me. I had narrowed it down from Nitto Dura Grappler, General APT and the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A's is original tires(not a lot of complaints, I just think their are better choices.) Anyone like or dislike there Defender LTX's.

Have had the same tires on my 2011 Silverado for the last couple years. I have had no issues with them, and they are great in the snow.

They're all my dad has run on his last 4 trucks.

He runs the 10-ply E-rated Defenders & gets amazing tread life out of them.

His trucks see little-to-no off road time, aside from the ~5 miles of packed gravel roads at our ranch, so a highway biased tire was better suited to him.

Also, none of the all-terrain warbling (hate it, IMO).

General consensus seems good, but my experience differs. I thought they were the most miserably awful tires I've ever had in my life. Hard as a rock, no traction in any conditions. They will absolutely run forever, I consider that a minus though given how terrible those tires were. Only tires I've ever had that I wanted to wear out.

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Yes, there are so many better options. Michelins I have had seemed worn out at 20-25k miles.
I will not buy another set, ever.

Over priced as well.

No thanks.

I would look at Cooper and Hankook too.

I just bought some for my SUV last week. The seem fine, just like the last set I had although they have changed the model designation slightly. They look and drive the same.
Can't give you much feedback on snow traction due to where I live.

First I've heard of short life on them.
My dad gets 50-70k on his.

Love them. Have them in both Subaru’s. The Defender LTX M/S that is. No idea about the other Defender variations.

Nothing to start a parade over, but I've had good service with them on my Jeep. I like them better than the Firestones and Generals I've previously run on this 16 years old Jeep. The set of 5 was a couple hundred more than cheaper options but I'd do it again.

First set of Michelins I ever ran was on a pickup in the early 80's. Man those Michelins were the shizzle. Felt like driving and riding a new truck. Didn't get that feeling this time 'round. Can't say for sure because I'm talking two different vehicles, but the current Michelins seem a bit stiffer.

Run them on both of my Yukon's, and just replaced them on one of the SUV's. Really like them.

And (FWIW) this opinion comes from a person that was a Goodyear National Account Dealer for 30+ years. I have sold virtually every band tire.

We had them on our previous 4x4 Tahoe and 4x2 Silverado crew cab. They were so much better than the oem GOODYEAR tires. Wet, dry and snow use. We had over 30,000 miles on the Tahoe tires and 20,000 miles on the Silverado tires when we sold the vehicles. They still showed plenty of tread life remaining. GM now uses MICHELIN on their new vehicles instead of GOODYEAR.

Pay attention to the recommended tire pressure on the door jamb NOT the maximum pressure on the tires.

If people would mind their own damn business this country would be better off. I owe no one an explanation or an apology for my personal opinion.

I swear by them. On my second set from Costco (which folks will also tell you buys old expired tires) and they have been great. I run them on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and they are quiet with good traction in all conditions. As someone already mentioned, they wear like rocks as well. My current set has 60,000 miles on them and I'll probably get another 20,000 by the looks of them. I get them rotated every 7-10k but I don't stress about it and I keep them inflated between 36-39PSI.

Not defender, but I ran several sets of the Michelin LTX M/S for many years. That ended when I totaled my 2000 Durango on less than 1/2" of snow. The tires had less than 10k miles on them.

I have heard very good things about Hankook Dynapro AT-M tires. I recently replaced my Durango with a 2010 Tahoe with 20" wheels and I am going to put the Dynapro's on it as soon as I wear out the current tires.

The Hankook's are priced quite a bit cheaper than the Michelin's.

Between my wife and I we've had 3 sets of LTX M&S' now. Excellent dry, wet and snow traction.

I use the LTX M/S2 Defender on my Wife's 4Runner. Got a lot of life and performance from the last set and expect nothing less from the set I just put on a few weeks ago. Good tires.

Nothing but success with them. Zero complaints.

Just put a new set from Costco on my Tundra (13') after the first set had worn down. Got 100,000 miles out of the first set., looking forward to the next 100k with these.

They are a fantastic tire.

I got 100k out of the last set with the usual balance, rotate and alignment and the current set has nearly 50k.

I'm running them on an Explorer.

I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.
