Like I said, it's not my problem you can't fathom a scenario where the government abuses these powers, or really just fucking it up because they do that pretty good too. Incompetent bullies, just who we ought to have raising our kids.

Surely you can do better than that. And no one is asking anyone else to raise my kids. Precisely the opposite. If you truly believe that this is a slippery slope situation, then fine. But the objection to these types of barriers it seems to me is more to do with adults who don't want to have to go through the hassle and indignity of posting up their ID to watch smut on the internet than anything else. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Then what's the problem? Why do you need government for this nonsense, you've got a handle on things.

Yeah, "common-sense speech laws" for the greater good, for the kids. What's next, blocking gun sites from various states? Or conservative media sites? You guys are reaching. This has nothing to do with speech. Hard-core porn is not some form of high art or provides any sort of worthwhile education or information. It is for one purpose, to satisfy a desire or need. It is a vice. The product these sites are selling has no virtue whatsoever.
I take that one back. Everyone here knows jhe is far from an idiot. It was a response from the hip. I meant to stay out of this thread because it is over a year old and revived by an obscure member who I think meant to just stir up shit and run. Then my old comment got brought back into it, and I felt compelled to react. So again, apologies to jhe for the flippant remark. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

I honestly don’t see the problem here. Whether there is age verification or not, the government already knows if you are visiting porn sites. Giving your ID doesn’t make the government know anything more than it does now. Secondly, for those who have no qualms, just provide the verification. Finally, for those who really don’t want to verify their age, just spend a few bucks a month for a VPN. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

Quite the contrary. I have kids within the demographic you may be concerned with, and I’ve never felt the need to restrict anything with legislation. I have more than enough parenting tools at my disposal. I simply keep them educated and build trust. I don’t need the library to ban books any more than I do the legislature to restrict porn. Instead, I talk to my kids and discuss the issues. I educate them and encourage them to think for themselves and make decisions accordingly. Others can pursue their happiness even if it’s not a choice we would not make in our home.

Sure children have the wisdom of Solomon. All you have to do is reason with them to help them avoid content that they themselves will undoubtedly agree is bad for their development and preparation for well-adjusted adulthood. Give a 12 year old the choice to go into a bar and have a shot and beer, with proper formation should be no problem for them to avoid. Even with perverse modern culture drawing them in at every turn, including in the classroom, the right choices will be recognized and readily adopted.

If you're in Virginia and finding it difficult to access adult content due to the new age verification laws, a potential workaround is to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to mask your IP address. A VPN can reroute your internet traffic through servers in other states or countries where these restrictions aren’t in place. This way, you can maintain your privacy and avoid the hassle of submitting your government ID. On a related note, if you're looking for adult content that’s still accessible without needing to go through strict verification processes, you might be interested in checking out onlyfans gays. I came across a list of the Best Gay Onlyfans Accounts: Top 10 Hottest Gays Male. These creators offer high-quality content, and since it's a subscription-based service, the age verification is typically handled at sign-up, ensuring you get the content you’re looking for without additional hurdles. This message has been edited. I'm somewhat surprised that members here have no issue with this. What's next after porn sites, sites that deal with guns? or knives? or free speech?" "We know what is best for you. So, you can't see that website." No thanks.

100% agreed. And COVID proved your scenario isn't far fetched; tyrants are constantly at the gates trying to steal freedom in the name of safety. I'm shocked any gun owner would be ok with this law; I say this as someone who doesn't approve of porn. For members worried about your children, turn on filters to their devices or do any number of other things to square yourself away. But we shouldn't all wear masks because you have someone vulnerable at home. That logic leads to tyranny FAST.

What is porn, anyway? Michelangelo's statue of David? Botticelli's Birth of Venus (child porn, no less!) painting? Some people think that. For computers and phones used or seen by children, there are all kinds of blockers or filters that can be put on them. Or, with younger ones, actually supervise them.

The government tried to tell us alcohol wasn't good for us and enacted Prohibition. That worked out well for them. "I'm from the government and am here to help."

Yeah, but don't you understand, this is different! I don't like porn! So that's why we need the heavy boot of government to stomp it out! Of course this could never backfire and be used against me, because reasons!

Is this any different from banning guns? Insert gun every time they say porn and see if it makes sense. ____________________________________________________ The butcher with the sharpest knife has the warmest heart.
