Not for PH but do you know of a good VPN that will block out YouTube ads? _____________

You (and all other Americans) have a constitutionally protected right to do things that others may not approve of. If both (or all?) parties involved in prostitution or adultery are of legal age and are engaging in these acts of their own free will, it is their business. Same with drunkenness. If it does not endanger anybody else, it's nobody else's business. Note that I am not saying that these things are right, I am saying that as Americans, we have the right to do wrong things. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

The rights that the Constitution tries to protect from government infringement aren’t the ones that everyone approves of. Of all things this should be obvious to any gun owner in America these days. ► 6.4/93.6 “ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.” — Immanuel Kant

More bullshit. Parents “Someone needs to change laws to raise my kids for me”. Nah, how about Timmy and Sally have their little electronic pacifiers heavily locked down. Take some responsibility parents, for once. If adults want to watch have at it. You cannot legislate morality. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

My experience with Youtube and a VPN was often monotony. There were still ads, but there must not have been the market like in the US. So often it was the same exact commercial over and over every single time.

Yup. This is just more bullshit feel good law that accomplishes zero. Hey, we're doing something. For the children. Q

Just like all the gun websites have to play CYA and are having you check that's you're over 18 to view the site. Because a teenager would NEVER lie to look at guns or boobs.

Didn't Hustler magazine win a SCOTUS case about this issue being protected under the 1ST amendment back in the 1960's?

Damn that 1st Amendment, amiright? The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

This is different, because porn is icky and there's no way this could ever possibly backfire.

The issue is children accessing it. No different than the philosophy behind restricting children accessing alcohol, tobacco, and guns. On the surface, these laws appear to allow adults to view the material without violating their 1A rights. The methodology used is a whole different debate, as are the issues of human trafficking and drugs in the industry. I suspect there is a hidden agenda related to how proof of age is established.

That's cute. You think free, unfettered access to jerk off material is somehow protected by the first amendment. I just have one question. Are you an idiot? Seriously, you guys can't be this naive in regards to parenting. Yes, God forbid conservatives use the power of government to help parents rather than make their job increasingly more difficult. No amount of "good" parenting will keep your children from seeing the debased shit that they will be exposed to on the internet, either via other kids or their own insatiable curiosity. This law is not a solution; it is just a tool to help parents. This is not a bad thing, despite your objection to having to go through an extra step to find your porn in order to get off by yourself. Andrew Breitbart is known to have said politics is downstream of culture. But conversely, one could also say that culture is downstream of politics. If you think this whole epidemic of children/young teens watching hard-core porn is a simple matter of parenting, then you have your head jammed squarely up your ass. I'm almost certain most of you saying this ignorant tripe don't even have children, or your children are at an age now where this stuff no longer concerns you. But by all means, just keep allowing the left and democrats in power to dictate our culture and politics while we sit idly by and take the dumbass libertarian route and let our children and future generations become consumed by this rot that is destroying Western civilization and the family. Or maybe conservatives can start wielding the power given to them for a change and fight back. Unless of course it's more important for you to get your hard-core porn in the fewest and least intrusive steps possible. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Maybe there should be a virtual "I am 18" pop up box on cell phones or a virtual ID check any time a male and female between the ages of 13-17 are in a room together. This way it will prevent them from engaging in that icky coitus and having a teen pregnancy. It would only be a tool to help parents.

Is that what you imagine this is? You think restricting unfettered access to online porn is a boot on the neck? What is it you're actually afraid of? Is it truly the slippery slope argument or the shame of opening up a porn site? ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Yes, the shame of pornography That you can't, or refuse, to see five minutes into the future, or look at history to know the goverment will find a way to abuse these powers, well that's on you. Plenty of tools out there already to control your kids, the government doesn't need any more power.

Tinker Sailor Soldier Pie |
Please explain that. Abuse what powers? The fact that before the internet one always had to prove he is of age to purchase porn? Explain to me what powers were giving the government when it requires proof of age to access certain materials. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan
