My younger daughter is getting married today ! Right now I'm hiding. Less than two weeks ago she told her mother and I that she was getting married. Wait for it... In our back yard. So I've been the yard boy and the pool boy, and every other kind of boy there is, and I'm tired. So I'm hiding in my office (gun room), I hope they don't find me. There are five women running around the house for the last three days getting ready for the wedding, and each time I finish one job, they make me do something else. But, the man she is marrying is good people, a hard worker, and I like him. So that's good.

God bless my daughter, but please don't let them find me in here.

Cheers, man. Hope you're imbibing some super expensive, delicious 18 year old scotch. Sounds like you deserve it.

Congrats to everyone.

For crying out loud! Come out, get busy, be proud. You are among the privileged few it seems, from your description.

When I lived in Whackyland, when we received a wedding invitation, we were happy that there was going to be a wedding, and then, when we arrived, there would be only one bride and we could tell which one it was.

It sounds to me like you have run the table.

Be happy, be proud, be thankful!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Kind of sounds like my wife and I. We were engaged and had plans to fly home for Christmas to visit family and were starting to plan our wedding for the following fall. But a couple of weeks before our Christmas visit we called up our parents and told them we decided we are just going to get married while we're there visiting in a couple of weeks. Eek

I'd have to have a nip or three, of the good stuff.

With 5 ladies giving wedding orders, you need a respite of sorts. Maybe clean a gun or two so you can settle down.

All the best with the wedding, glad you like him.

That right there is REALLY important. My daughter's husband and my son's wife are family. I love both of them. Sounds to me like your getting a son and not losing a daughter. That is a very good thing. Congrats!

I know the feeling. I had 2 daughters get married outdoors on the farm. 200 people, big tent, catered affair, etc. But I had more notice than you did! Great memories though...

Congrats to you.

I went to my best friends daughters wedding, which was held in his back yard. It started to rain, so they moved the table with the cake on other edibles on. They closed the overhead door.
When they went to cut the cake they opened the overhead door and it caught on the edge of the table and upset the table.

The preacher who performed the wedding pulled up in a new beamer and when his trophy wife got out of the car her dress was so low cut in the front her more than ample breats almost came popping out of her dress.

Hope you do not have that going for you, good luck.

Congratulations. I'll never know the joy nor the trepidation of what you've experienced and will experience with your daughter.

Enjoy your father/daughter dance.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Well guys, it went off without a hitch. My older daughter took the role of the wedding boss, and made everything happen giving all the instructions and cues to all participants. My wife's girl friend, an amateur photographer, took lots of great pictures. And the justice of the peace we hired, did a very nice job with the vows, etc. We decorated their getaway Dodge truck with the usual materials, writing on the windows etc., and I added some hot pink flagging tape I use for deer hunting. Yes I said hot pink - all the other hunters use orange. Anyway they drove off for a short honeymoon, to be followed up later with a longer one after they make arrangements with their employers. They couldn't have been happier. And yes I got to dance with her on our pool deck after she danced with her new husband. I couldn't be happier for her.

So today, after most of the women who worked the wedding had stayed overnight, I took a little shopping trip down to Harbor Freight to deflate and relax, and now I'm going into my "office"
(gun room) to finish a small project on my J frame and install a new recoil spring for a K9.

My newly married daughter is joining the Army Reserve, and they will be staying in the area, so it will be nice seeing them since they will be living in or near our city.

So one down, one more to go ! Thanks friends.
