Anyone make the upgrade yet?

I did my iPads, not my phone. Figured with the 17 PM arriving Friday, no point in updating the 15 PM that will be going to my wife.

REALLY like the windowed apps on the iPad. The whole “Liquid Glass” thing seems like not much of a big deal tho.

So far no issues, seems speedy and even performs well on the Mini (current version)

For the phone, looking forward to the camera interface improvements.

Did you install Tahoe 26 or 15.7 for the Macbook?

Actually kind of underwhelmed by iOS 26.
Tweaks under the hood but still looking into it.

Company owned phone. 26 was forced on me yesterday. I don't see any difference in how I use it

Dumb question: did they skip a bunch of numbers? I’m still on 17?

They are now numbering OS versions by year, not in sequence. On my calendar it isn't 2026 yet, but... I guess they figured 2025 was not forward looking enough.

They announced this at the last WWDC (or maybe the one before). ISTR that part of the announcement was that hardware was going to be versioned the same way, ostensibly to help the user know how old his gear is (and presumably to upgrade more frequently).

^^ Apple decided that since they release an new iOS version annually, they would align the iOS version number to the year of release.

To add - The new iOS is usually announced in June at the WWDC, then released in September alongside the new iPhones and iPads, so much like new automobiles they're available prior to the beginning of the 'Model Year'.

Much like with new cars, with ANY new OS/software version, it is prudent to wait until they work out the bugs/kinks before 'upgrading'.

I'm always amazed at those that exclaim right after they performed the 'upgrade', that they're determined it 'works great, no issues' simply because the device rebooted successfully. I'm waiting...Just sayin' Wink

I am curious about this too.
I checked and it says I am on iOS 18.6.2
I have not had this phone for 7 years and it seems to Install upgrades when I am plugged in and on WiFi at night on occasion.
Whats the deal.

Am I really 8 behind now?

^^ Apple only made the jump from iOS 18 to iOS 26 like two days ago! It was announced on 9/5, released on 9/15, so NO, you're not really behind at all.

No. Apple reset the number. Instead of sequential starting from iOS 1, they changed to a year (or more accurately a model year) numbering starting at 26 for the 2026 model year. The numbers 19-25 were skipped.

Yeah....no...I'll wait until 26.1 or 26.2

iPhone users claim Apple's iOS 26 update has RUINED their battery life - as one vents it's 'turning my phone into a brick'

I don't like how these updates keep getting more and more bloated. 9.5 GB just to update your freaking phone? No wonder all the new ones have larger and larger storage, you'll need it just to keep up with all these huge update file sizes

Okay, that is weird. My phone did an auto update a couple of days ago and looking at it right now, it says, iOS 18.7

How much storage is needs for the os proper vs things like LLM for ai?

And if I don’t want ai, can I get a smaller build?

My 16 ProMax already has a pretty weak battery life. I can't risk it getting worse with another iOS update.

I don't like it. The glass theme reminds me of Windows ME. All we need is the bubble screensaver. I think Apple was going for "Fabulous!", yeah say it like I wrote it. It is annoying with all the animations and sparkle. I'm hoping they wise up.

Hmm, got curious and went to see what updates Apple had for my iPhone Xs. It gave me 18.7 as the latest. I guess those of us with older equipment won't be getting this shiny new #26 OS.

OTOH, my much older Mac Mini on which I am typing this appears to be 26.0 ready. May wait until 26.1 there.
