Facts are stubborn things |
I had a friend move there for work from Charlotte. They stayed 2 years. Now they are in Raleigh. They didn't like the crime issues. They really didn't like all of the homeless people hanging around. They loved the history and the restaurants and the touristy stuff. It is hot as balls in the summer. But I live in Charlotte where it is hot as balls in the summer... Do, Or do not. There is no try.

Moving for retirement can be tricky. It may be attractive to move for better weather, then lower taxes and better gun laws are a plus. I approach the idea with caution. I've seen more than a few move, then move right back after a few years to be closer to kids, grandkids, family, friends, & things familiar. I for one have no plans to join the masses in FL. Since I'm over 5 years away I don't fret over a retirement move. I like the idea of getting away for up to a few months at a time. I also like the plan of a residency in a lower tax State if needed. If pushed right now for a plan I may well mention SD as a retirement State. Yeah, if I was in the Northeast I would look to scoot somewhere.
