I took my Apple MacBook Pro to the Apple Store due to keyboard problems--now good as new Login/Join

The new MacBook Pro models have had lots of problems with their keyboards, with keys sticking. I had previously had problems with the space bar, then with the letter "s". Last week Apple announced that it would repair these known problems under warranty. I took my MBP to the Apple Store June 30. Just got it back today July 6 delivered by FedEx. Top case including keyboard was replaced, apparently along with a new battery (I had complained of short battery life).
All made good at no charge to me, and done expeditiously. I'm very happy with Apple CS.

I live 60 miles from the nearest Apple store, so they let me ship it back on their dime (bulging battery in MBP). Sent it out on a Thursday, they got it and fixed it Friday, and I had it back Monday, covered at no charge under Apple Care.

I have one of the last of the 17" MacBooks. Two weeks before the AppleCare expired, I was having problems with it. Apple replaced the motherboard and screen. I essentially got a new MacBook. Apple rates at the top for tech support.

My only bitch with them, is they basically write off older units, even if you are willing to pay. My 17" MacBook Pro was built in '08, they had previously replaced a bad battery, with great results. It worked fine for a year, the battery started to swell. By the time I noticed it, and the time I got it to them, they said they don't work on items that old Mad

Bought a battery anyway, hoping it would solve the problem, it didn't. Apparently the swelling damaged the computer, as was told to me by a Mac recommended repairer for older models. Nice guy, he explained that in computer technology years, mine was over 100 years old Eek

Sad they got rid of the 17", but the 15" wasn't to hard to get used to.

I've got a MacAir on it's last legs, and have been looking at the 13" Macbook Pro reconditioned on Apples website - but the keyboard SNAFU has kept me away and thinking I should just get a Reconditioned MacAir again. What's the chances of the reconditioned Pro units at Apple having the new, improved keyboards?

Aileron, I don't know if the keyboards are improved, or if they just replaced troublesome keyboards with mechanically identical but new units.

Frankly, I'm pissed for the two LONG calls I had with them when my G key wasn't working while to F'ers had me reset my NVRAM and jump through all kinds of gyrations. Thank god I didn't ruin the damn thing when I picked my g key off with a small knife and blew it out myself. I had assumed I must have done something to make it not work. A spill or something. I was amazed it worked. This was all a bit before the problems were so widely known by the public. But I'm damn sure someone at Apple knew by then.

I just bought a Mac for my kid going off to college. I went with the Air with the old keyboard. Less horsepower, but a work horse. I really don't like much about my newer Pro. I miss my last Pro, but my wife won't give it back!

The butterfly keyboard was introduced in the MBP's in 2016. If you are buying refurbished, look for an "Early 2015" 13", or "Mid-2015" 15" (or earlier). With the 2015's, you'll only lose out on Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C, and that "Wonderbar". (you still have two Thunderbolt 2 ports and two USB 3.0 ports).

Our new Ipad locked up this morning, said we had the wrong "password". We will be taking it into the Apple store this morning.

I couldn't find an early '15 Macbook Pro, so I went the safe way and ordered a late '17 refurbished Macbook air with 8Gb Ram and 500Gb of flash memory.

$1,300 plus another $249 for Applecare. Ordered on Wednesday, arrived yesterday afternoon :-)

Apple just did an update for the MBP. Now come with 32 gigs of ram.

I’ve had issues with mine. All software no hardware at all.
