I'm 35. I have my resume on a few of the job websites and one of them offers a free resume review by some company that offers resume-writing services. One of the things they recommended was I remove the years I was in school to help "prevent any unconscious ageism biases that the hiring individual may have".

That one stung a bit.

Reading all these entries makes me feel old. I am 84, 85 in December. Spent 20 in the AF and retired to go into LE. Retired again at almost 68 but I would have stayed longer but me wife got breast cancer. Retired and became her care giver. She died at 83. I would have stayed longer but it was fun.

Today I am alone. My sons are gone. My daughter helps but she is a doc and is busy at the med center. SIL has a business and just bought 20 acres and in his free time is learning to be a farmer.

Grand kids are spread out. One is a middle school
Math teacher, second one is a mechanical engineer building Patriot missiles and my grad daughter is in her senior year of pre med.

All I do now is talk to the dog but cannot under stand his replies and wait for the mail man.

Many years ago, one of my brothers and myself visited our mother. She was in an assisted living establishment, and was quite happy there. She looks at us both, and asked "have you boys reached an age where you just hurt all of the time"? We looked at each other, and said well no mom.

WELL, that time arrived some time ago, and it isn't going to go away, until I do!!! Maybe that is how I know that I am still alive. Used to be that a few years would pass, and I noticed no changes in my body/mind.......well now, I know the difference each year brings. I am still having more good days than bad ones, and still having fun......just at a slower pace.

It’s not the years, it’s the miles! Damn, I’ve logged a lot of miles! So many broken bones and a few surgeries thrown in.

After many injuries and surgeries, I would tell you 30 something, physically. That said, DO NOT EVER grow up. That's what happens right before you die.

I am almost 72 but in my mind I still think I am in my mid 40's (even with all the surgeries and different illness's I have had and still have). So the way I look at it is you're not old until you think you are.

You're old when you realize women half your age are pretty darn old.

For about the last year or so, I have to understand that the magic age is 70. Why? Well, if you die at 69 or under, everyone says "but, he was so young!" over 70, and it is: "well, he had a good run."

You just know you're old. You feel it in your bones, and everything else. If you don't just know it, it'll come soon enough. Those that deny it are just old fools.
