Homemade Cinnamon Hard Apple Cider

is this similar to what i would call apple pie?

Apple cider, juice, cinnamon and grain alcohol. if not please do explain!

It's hard cider I brewed from scratch, with a hint of cinnamon, sweetened with some honey after fermentation to make it sweet without the increased alcohol.

Think hard cider.....except I didn't take the time to carbonate it.

Cranachan Recipe, Scotch for Dessert.

I got this recipe from Whisky Advocate, Winter 2013. WA attributes the recipe to Edinburgh New Town Cookery School. It has been changed a bit by increasing the amount of the ingredients. Serves four.

Four sherbert or cosmopolitan glasses.

1/2 cup pinhead (steel cut) oats or oatmeal
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups fresh raspberries
16 raspberries for garnish
Four Tablespoons whisky
Four Tablespoons Heather Honey
Honey for drizzling

In a dry pan toast the oats until brown and set aside on a plate to cool.

Mix the whisky and honey together. Mix the two cups of raspberries in with the liquor.

Whip the heavy cream until it holds shape.

Place a layer of raspberries and some liquor in the bottom of the glasses and cover with some cream. Sprinkle with a layer of oats and some liquor. Layer again with rapsberries, cream, oats. Garnish each with four raspberries and drizzle with honey.

Chill one hour and serve.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

After a night of pumpkin carving with the little man, he's in bed and it's Crown Royal reserve for me along with a Romeo Y Juliet Cigar. Very nice.

Still late afternoon here. Was going to have a Sammy Adams Octoberfest, but decided on a Firestone Walker, Union Jack IPA instead. Later while fixing dinner, I'll have a Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA.

Chamomile tea at the moment.

But there is a 12-pack of PBR in the fridge in case I have the urge.
Along with a bottle of J.W. Black and a fresh pack of Bugler tobacco.

And a DVD, Lawrence of Arabia. All waiting for Pizza & Movie night. Sunday?
