If you like the Portuguese reds, go a bit northeast to the Rioja district in Spain and try some of their reds. One of my favorites is Viña Tondonia.

I've had many reds from Spain, and have enjoyed them all. My favorite overall region for reds. Also, most whites from South Africa.

vthoky, I really did like that Portuguese red, and intend to explore more from that country. I have to admit another favorite was recommended by a member here. I don't remember who. Eccentric Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina. I don't find Argentina to be consistently as good as Spain, but this stuff was fantastic, and a real steal for 13 bucks a bottle. Only problem is close to me only Total Wine has it, and I don't go to Denver very often anymore.

My Total Wine shows it for $10.99. I'll have to give it a try.

La Crema Pinot Noir 2022… got this 20% off from my local wine source. If you like a strawberry Pinot with some edge to it, this is your juice. Wine Spectator rates as a great value and I don’t disagree.

Bourbon. My wife came home from Costco with a 1.75 of Knob Creek Small Batch, a 9 y.o., 100 proof bottle. It’s aww-iight. It should be great, but frankly, I like the offerings from the Russells at Wild Turkey better, and I think good ol’ WT 101 is better.

Thank you, Mr. V-Tail!

"Rebecca the wine lady" has pointed out a couple from Rioja. I've tried and liked them, though it seems I didn't make [easily findable] notes on them.

As the Portuguese reds go, two that I did note were a) Colossal Reserva (Casa Santos Lima, 2019), and b) Paxis Red Blend (2020). I marked both in my notes as bottles I'd happily buy again.

God bless America.

McCauley's tonight. Recommended by the ABC store employee.

Two-sip evaluation: I like it.
It has a bit of a bite at first, and gets really smooth afterwards.

God bless America.

Pabst Blue Ribbon; cut way back on brew after New Year's. Some pill I'm now on is to blame.
