Individualism versus collectivism.
Everything flows from there.

Yep.
Freedom to succeed includes the freedom to fail.
Leftists don't want to take responsibility for themselves and think that "the government" should "take care" of people.
Collectivist thinking gradually brings everyone down.

Two slightly different versions of Churchill come to mind:

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
--Winston Churchill

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. --Winston Churchill

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

"The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth."

Difference between a Conservative and Liberal Democrat or Republican and Liberal Democrat? The latter is a distinction without a difference.

That's always a mistake Smile

Maybe this joke reflects my thoughts on the subject.

A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost. She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below. She shouts to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consults his portable GPS and replies, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolls her eyes and says, "You must be a Republican!"

"I am," replies the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answers the balloonist, "everything you tell me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you're not much help to me."

The man smiles and responds, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am, replies the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," says the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."

Democrats call anyone that disagrees with them a racist.

Republicans do anything not to be called a racist.

There's governing, and then there's all the other bullshit, forced on us by small men and women who cannot stand the idea that other people wish to live their lives differently.

First, a clarification based on my personal opinion on the topic. In my mind the current Dem party is completely socialist at this point, with all the ideology and nonsense that comes with it. The current Repub party holds many of the same positions as the liberal party of 25 years ago. So, that said, what's the difference in the two parties at this point? Just the speed at which the country totally collapses.

Unless you're implying they Self-govern or submit to the laws of god and nature. In a desire to avoid conflict I'm going to say simply, I reject that notion and disagree with it in it's entirety.

Ever since 1980 my observation has been that the Democrat leadership has been made up of people who deep down do not love this country and will do anything to further their agenda even if it hurts or destroys this great nation. I have seen a few in the Republican party over the years that we are finally calling out, i.e., RINOs.

Socialist and a Republican come on a homeless man.
The Republican takes $10 out of his pocket, tells the man to come back the next day and he’ll get him a job.
The socialist takes $20 out of the Republicans’ pocket and tells the many to come back the next day and get another $20.

Oh, I no longer use the word “demonrat.” They are socialists.
