para, thank you for your openness. Moderating a forum is one of the most thankless jobs, next to HOA President, one can do. I have done it on a couple of forums; I appreciate what you do and how hard you work to make this forum a good place.

Thank you.

I don't know how Para does it, it seems like there used to be more Moderators, or at least more visible Moderators.

This forum, and it's members and Mods, mean a lot to me. It's my go to place to see what's going on, and I've learned so much here. I treasure that.

Mike,

Thank you for sharing your feelings and the whole situation with Jimmy. People will come and people will go. There was one point where I thought you were calling me out and told me to sleep it off, yet I had nothing to sleep off. To say I was fuming mad was an understatement. I was embarrassed beyond belief and was hurt.
I didn’t check back in for a while, but I missed the people and reading the content here.
I re-read what you posted and figured, well, I do have a pattern of being a dipshit. I got over it. But I’ve also been on forums for ages, and nasty Nissan fanboy car forums. That’ll thicken your skin.
It sucks to lose some of these guys. But shit, it does happen. I like V-Tail. He’s almost as old as Jesus, but a cool guy. Remember, when you get to that age, I would guess that at some point you say “fuck this”. It’s just not worth the headache.
I hope he comes back. He’s a good dude. So is Jimmy.
Anyways, don’t beat yourself up. No one wants to see people getting bullied. I emailed Jimmy at one point when people were flipping him a bunch of shit, just to say “hey man, you’re pretty okay and don’t let people get you down”.

Anyways, the point of this long winded babble is that it’s hard to always make the perfect decision. Sometimes you may lose a person or two. That sucks. You do a great job. Keep it up, and thanks for what you have given us here, in our green screened wonderland.

I think you may be on to something here. I just need to remember this come November, which is basically the equivalent of remembering the periodic table.

Haven't we all been in either casual or close friendships or business relationships where things just went off the rails over something and the result was either "barely on speaking terms" or total silence for days, weeks, or longer?

You've done your part and reached out, Para---give it a little time.

Well said and well done Para.

First and foremost, I'm glad that you are recovering well from your "near miss".

I'd also like to say that I hope V-Tail returns. I always find his posts worth reading.

Andrew was one of the first members I trusted enough to do business with outside of this forum, way back when he was still in VA, IIRC. I’ve still got his P220 in the safe. I hope he finds his way back.

Para, thanks for the heads up.
I see you are frustrated but if you made a mistake with a reprimand and someone quit before you could take that back, it is hard to deal with, but everybody makes mistakes. We usually pay for them doubly.
I hope I am not guilty of anything you went over.
I do not get on and post as much as most, I realize that. I only belong to 3 forums, so it is not that I am posting a lot more elsewhere, but I just get on here when I can.
I am going through a very busy time now. Things are good, but very busy.
I too am very concerned with our country. My wife and I both donate time at the county Trump center to get the president re-elected. My wife goes everyday. I go when really needed, as I said I am very busy with other things now that are on a strict time line.
We have about 5-10 times the number of people visiting the Trump center in our county and they are coming from all over. They not only want signs, but they want T shirts, hats, Flags and more flags and covid trump masks and on and on.
The people coming in are rabid about Trump getting re-elected.

I do miss Rhino. He brought a lot of wisdom about firearms in general to the forum. Like it or not, He always gave his opinion. Odd that he would disappear. Hope he comes back.

I never would have come back to this thread if it weren't for the new V-Tail thread that redirected here. What an interesting behind-the-scenes drama that we're rarely privy to!

I disagree with Para--I don't think his mistake was "egregious," and because of that, I can only assume V-Tail never saw Para's acknowledgment of the mistake in the original thread or the whole explanation here, because if he had, he would have come to the same conclusion as me--the mistake was a simple oversight in the heat of the moment. Who wouldn't understand the anger and irritation of an admonishment that was defied? V-Tail knows he didn't do that. This story will have a happy ending.

I don’t post a lot and I’ve been around since before the date below indicates (under a different name Mars) but I just want to say talking to you in those early days was one of the main reasons I joined this forum. You had a lot less content to manage and I’m sure a lot less headaches. I may not always agree with moderators or members but the good far outweighs the bad and I hope that it does for you too. I’m not a brown noser and anyone that really knows me can attest to that, but I want you to know that your efforts are appreciated. Taking time to communicate with me in those early days were what brought me to this forum. I went through a time that when I nearly died shortly after joining this forum and during the rough times that followed this forum sustained me. Thank you for that. Given all that’s gone on over the years and during this thread, I just thought you might want to know.

Bendable, you are both wrong and right! I swear to you I did read the entire thread...I am ashamed to admit that upon further review I didn't comprehend the doggone thing.

I caught myself in the age old web of being so anxious to write my response that I slipped a cog on comprehension.

I can only imagine Para's frustration. I also admire our esteemed leader's candor and ownership of his decisions. I would not want his job and I appreciate the niche he's carved out of the inter webs.

Thanks again for all your efforts Para. I've likely never said it, and likely needs to be said much more than once. There's some great folks on this board, and you get a lot of that credit for weaning out the bad apples of which the internet has more than it's share.

Take care of yourself, and same goes for the rest of you too.

Wow, I missed all this; I must have been busy.

I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again. One thing about Para that has earned my admiration is his willingness to admit when he thinks he is wrong coupled with his insight in running this forum. Not only is he willing to admit he is wrong but he even apologizes.

Be well, Para. As for the things that are solely on your mind and heart along with the rest o the things that affect us here likewise with the current state of affairs, I rely on the old adage: this, too, shall pass. Sometimes, it may pass like a kidney stone but it will pass.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
