Chromes been acting weird, I've had AdBlock on chrome for as long as I can remember, works great, takes out offending ads, sits up there in the corner doing it's thing.

Today whenever I try and go to a page it stalls, as if buffering, down in the corner a message of "waiting on AdBlock" appears, and the page won't come up.

Testing I brought up the extensions, and while two pages were "buffering" turned off the extension and the pages came right up, super fast. Turn it back on and the delay or even refusal to bring up the page happens.

Then when I googled a term to check spelling I got a capticha click here you aint a robot from Google, the URL was clearly google, and the display showed it was google, CLicked and the search appears.

Anyone else having issues?

Going to run a fresh install of Malwarebytes just to check, machine should be pretty clean Google shows some problems with AdBlock and Chrome,

It appears back in Feb Google activated a built in adblocker in chrome, most likely to block ads of companies that don't pay them a ransom lol wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Updated chrome to the latest version and still, no joy....

Almost identical issues here in NC, buffering like crazy but I didn't suspect AdBlock, I'll start playing with that and see what happens. It got so bad with my internet provider I moved to my iPhone's hot spot and most of it cleared up.

I don’t know if my experience matches yours but Chrome was laggy and super slow for me.

What I determined by happenstance that was causing it was allowing Google to send me notifications. I killed all notifications and chrome sped right up.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." You don't want to use adblock / adblock+ any more. They allow companies to buy a spot on their allowed ads list (or so is my understanding).

You'd be better off uninstalling it and instead install "Ublock Origin" + "Privacy Badger" (and if you want, also "HTTPS Everywhere").

Privacy Badger & HTTPS Everywhere are both by the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF).

I am using Avast Secure Browser which is built on Chrome. So far I'm happy with it.

Google Chrome works just fine for me and others around me. Stop using adblock obviously it is conflicting with chrome.

Correct turn it off and the problem is solved, I'm aware of that, just was curious if it was me or others that have issues with the extension as well.

For several years it hasn't been a problem with millions of users have it installed, until a day ago it was fine obviously google has changed something as the lagging extension is Adblock you can see it displayed by google, turn it off and bam you are up and running and of course the Advertisements are back.

Its worked so well that I now see all the ads it's dumped over the years, amazing. Will load ublock and see what happens.

*** Update Ublock works for now without problems with AdBlock disabled, so that is good to go, thanks for the tip on Ublock. also added the others to see how they do. ***

Mine had been doing the same, giving ublock a try.

Edit: No change here on SF, but there was never really an issue with this site.
Otherwise, it's like Chrome on steroids, so much faster now the AB+ is gone.
