This is from 1970. I remember this happening back then in real time.
They blew up this whale and didn't consider the consequences.

I remember well when a service bulletin from the Technology Center in Missoula was circulated giving direction for the use of explosives to dispose of horse carcasses in Wilderness areas, if they died in a “bad place.” I can tell you from very personal experience that two examples of a “bad place” include the shore of a Wilderness lake and in the center of a down cut trail. I had to butcher and scatter a horse in each location. I always wondered how this would work out. I was never licensed to handle explosives, myself, so I never had the chance.

People who were hit by whale pieces were blubbering about the experience.

"What porpoise did this serve? Its a fluking mess!"

They want to krill someone. That it was fluke occurrence did not mollify them.

That one never gets old watching!

Should have just pulled it off the beach back into the ocean and towed it out to sea and then blown it up...

Reminds me of the time we put 4 lbs of Tannerite under a very large feral hog sow that had been sitting in the South Texas sun a few days.

A bunch of whale bits landed in a small boat; the crew were baleen for hours.
