$10 here in Lewisville, Tx
Last time I was there on a Saturday afternoon, he had to open a new stack of 4473 forms as he had done almost 100 transfers since Thursday he said.

$25 is the going rate around here. One very reasonable local shop even offered $35 to do a 10 Palmetto lower shipment back when the blem sales were happening. I told them to make it $50 as it was very much worth it to me.

One of those things were competition is your friend.

Here $50 and up was the going rate for a long long time. With the Internet and the advent of online gun sales, more and more small shops mostly doing transfers changed the business model. For a bunch of years $25 became the going rate locally. A lot of those small shops are gone now and the price is creeping back up. Most are in the $40-$45 range again.

In California, I was paying $75 per transfer.

In Arizona, I'm paying $20 per transfer.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I pay between $20-$30, sometimes not charged at all. I’ve done a lot of business with my FFL.

The dude has to log each firearm individually, so two firearms are double the work. Pawn Shop Guy that I use charges $25 per firearm and there is a pass-through charge for the background check of $5 for the 4473, whether there is one firearm on the 4473 or multiple firearms. He does not keep the $5 -- that goes to the state.

$25-$35 is reasonable here, $50 is when there is no one else within 50 miles, $75 is robbing you with your own gun.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

If you're in Illinois close to St.Louis I have an FFL that does it for $35

$20-$40 bucks for all the transfers I ever had done. Maybe a $10 in there but $25-$30 being the lions share.

Check around. Some places like pawn shops and hardware stores have FFLs and do transfers. I think Gunbroker has a FFL transfer search feature.

As cas said, competition is your friend. Take a place like CA, where they pile a ton of additional requirements on FFLs and make life as hard as the can for them and there will be less FFLs all charging more money trying to stay in business. Yet another reason to move to Free America…

Used to have one that would do it for free, but he went out of business a long time ago. He admitted he was doing it for that just to get people into his shop so they could see what he had. He was more than fair on the pricing for his inventory by the way. For the record, I did buy a few guns from him because of that.

Now, I use Primary Arms on the very south end of Houston. They run $10 but will include up to 3 firearms at a time for no additional cost.
