What is a reasonable FFL transfer fee? Login/Join

Unfortunately, living in Illinois, I need to have an FFL dealer do the paperwork for the air rifle I want to purchase. So far I have heard $75 and $65. Is this a reasonable fee? It seems high to me but I thought I’d ask.

In NC transfers were $50 in and around Raleigh, but 30 miles away they were $35.

I did one here in central Tx and they charged $25

Its $50 around here. I think $25 is appropriate, but some of our SF dealers may say otherwise. They will be in shortly, I would guess.

$25-50 seems to be the going rate last I checked around here.

Coworker got lucky & found an FFL in his neighborhood that does them for $25, when he bought an assembled PSA lower.

$20-25 for each 4473. You will find some shit heads will charge that per item despite going on the same 4473. I would imagine an FFL that does a steady flow of transfers has a decent flow of supplemental income.

Joel9507 I sure do. As I understand it, any air rifle above 18 caliber or 700 fps is treated as a firearm.

Anything above $40 is unreasonable, imo, although I've never been charged more than $25 in all the years around here. My current FFL charge $20.

I've paid as much as $50 at other places (regular LGS's mostly) but there's a pawn shop a mile from my house that charges $25. A friend of mine now has an FFL and he'd probably do it for me for the price of the state BGC ($10). I'd say anywhere between $20 and $35 is "reasonable".

$10. Used to pay a lot more, then found a small shop in town that does it for next to nothing.

That’s high

My local FFL charges $35 and does shipping to another FFL (if you sell a gun) for $50 which I think is reasonable, he will take it and pack it, insure it and do the paperwork for that price.

I charge $25 for transfers. Many sellers in other states that don't know Il law will send you an air rifle to your house! Many other states do not classify air guns as firearms only retarded Illinois.
