So I discovered new projectile launching sport today, axe throwing. We've got a couple of places around town that offer it. Went out to the Frosted Axe tonight and had a great time. Discovered I can throw an axe rather well, shovels I did ok with (think Russian Spetsnaz), throwing stars I can at least keep on he target bale and knives I cannot throw to save my life.

And of course they have leagues and a governing organization and tournaments and after a few minutes I started thinking I could build a range in my basement...

Very nice! I've recently gotten back into blade-throwing, specifically trying to master bo-shuriken. They have a straight blade and usually only one point. Much more difficult to throw than stars (shaken). I think the "no-spin" throw is the most difficult method of knife-throwing.

Got this target board set up in my bedroom and have been practising for the past year.

Me too! The one time I did it was with my gf and another couple, and all of the various games were couple vs couple (my gf at the time was awful at it). However, the last event was solo and I beat everybody's score combined.

I had some darn sore muscles for a few days since I used a bunch I don't in every day life.

We have a couple in Albuquerque. They are fun to visit. Plus, these let me bring my own tomahawks.

I gave it a try this past spring and caught the hang of it pretty quickly as well. I’ve been back several times. My oldest son joined the local league and bought his own axes. They make quite a difference compared to the ones supplied at the venue.

My daughter did a couple axe throwing outings with friends ... would like to find what I need for her to practice with.

Any suggestions for axe types and targets ?

Thinking of a Christmas gift or two, or three.

I saw one of these places two weeks ago at an outlet mall in Tucson. I stopped and watched for a while. Looks like fun. Plus it was a great diversion from having to follow the wife from store to store..

There's an axe throwing place nearby that is a complete hoot! Smile

And my range has opened an axe throwing area this year.

Need to think about getting equipped!!!

Concur with all the "axe throwing turned out to be a hoot:" talk. Went with whole family to a place with my BIL/SIL when visiting them in Columbia, SC. It was SO MUCH FUN! Wife and I gave some serious consideration to opening a place in Tacoma. We're still thinking about building a target lane/range in the backyard.
