I was thinking the same thing, not for a boat but my car.

Turns out if I CCW when I go pick up my kid at the local school parking lot, even while holding a CHL in my state, that's a crime. Even if I don't get out of my car.

So was looking for some other solution. I guess this is not it.

Sadly, CHL laws are changing so there are likely to be fewer places where legal CCW is allowed, at least where I live.

I've got no problem with OC spray as a less-lethal alternative, but in my experience the pepperball version is less effective, and not something I'd want to rely on, especially as a standalone tool.

I don’t know….I have seen pepperball gunworks w/ great effectiveness. On subjects outside and especially inside vehicles. 10-20 pepperballs coming through your halfway down driver’s side window because you refuse to get out… they for the most part un-ass that car quick. Fastest one I saw was the dog in the back of a SUV at the end of a pursuit. The hound didn’t want to suck in very much of that powder. Felt bad for the critter. Didn’t even know he was in there and actually was the smartest one in the car.

Ran across one at the gun show. It seems to me that if a situation has deteriorated to where you need to be pointing a weapon, it might as well be a real one. And it looks entirely too bulky (thick) for carrying on your person by itself, let alone alongside a real gun.
