My new to me Ridgeline had a newish set of Michelins on it. They are wearing just like every other Michelin I have had. No worth a crap. Fwiw

My 2010 Ridgeline (bought new) came with Michelins. I've had pickups for 30+ years with a bunch of different, name-brand tires. These Michelins were the best handling tires I ever had. Still own the Ridgeline and just installed my third set of Michelins on it. I have 140K miles on the truck, so I figure I got 70K miles on each set!
Yes, pricier than the other named-brand tires, but with the handling and usage, I will not go to another brand.

Your opinion might vary!!!

I've had similar performance out of Michelin's on my truck.

Ironically I got a code from Costco tonight for $50 off a $500+ purchase that expires 8/17. I'm sure it's just a coincidence since I was logged in my account looking at the tires today. So now I'm thinking I'll go ahead and order them, get the $50 off, then apply for the sale price under their 30 day price guarantee. Probably avoid a possibility of them being out of stock like is currently with the Bridgestone's that they currently have on sale.

Completed the process getting a total of $200 off the Michelin's at Costco. Made them a really good value according to my search. Cheaper than the original Big O option I had considered. Thanks to all who assisted in the analysis.

First, you could do worse than Big O. But the Michelin, any Michelin tire is in a completely different league, and better in every way than the Big O tire.

I would spend the extra in a heart beat even if I was tight on cash over the Big O tire.

I have had a few sets of Big O's in my life, they were all OK, and preformed fair, but every Michelin I have had preformed head and shoulders better than that.

A little anecdotal story though about Big O tires. My uncle had a set of heavy duty work tire on a old pickup truck that he used for an aluminum side business. That set went over 80,000 miles and 15 years and carring heavy loads, sometimes parked with heavy loads for days.

He replaced them after he picked up a nail and went to have the tire patched and the shop said the tires were over 15 years old and he should replace them.

They still had good tread on them, but were dry rotted. So he replaced them, again with the comparable tire from Big O, but got nowhere near the life out of that set.

I personally wouldn't limit the search to Big O brand or Michelin. I'd look somewhere like Tirerack.com and find a tire that meets the specs for my vehicle, including any speed or load rating criteria recommended for the particular vehicle. I also check the temperature rating since most of my time is spent in the deep south on the highway. I'm not sure this really matters, but I do it anyway. After that, I make sure the tire is not made in China and matches the type of driving I do, which is mostly paved streets but some dirt/farm roads on occasion. Once I've narrowed down the search to a handful, then I look for places to buy them at the best prices. I also look at the Tirerack.com reviews, paying more attention to those reviews from owners with similar vehicles as mine.

Another big fan of Michelin’s.

They typically require less weights to road force balance them and my Porsche mechanic agrees. I’ve had sets where no weights were required.. can’t say that about any other brand I’ve used.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S but definitely not the Premiere LTX. We get 70k on one but only 27k on the other.

My experience also. I am not overly concerned about milage. Tires that have less wear usually have performance trade offs. I am most concerned with wet road abilities.

I bought my Michelins on line at discounttiredirect.com and had Big O install them and they were cheaper than Costco doing it that way.

If I recall correctly Big O tires are made by Goodyear or Kelly.

I’d spend more to get the Michelin’s over Big O.

Tire Rack reviews for your specific vehicle are very helpful. You just have to read them like you read any other review and filter out the worthless ones from the people that really know their car an how it performs with different tires.

Last few sets I bought for cars I previously owned were Continental Extreme Contact DWS. They consistently rated very very well for the WRX's I used to drive. Probably the best all-season performance tire I've used and good lifespan too. A tire shop guy I trusted (hard to find that but this guy was good) recommended them after I had tried the factory Bridgestones, Pirelli P Zero Nero, and Yokohama VR4's. I liked the Continentals best.

Michelins are expensive and I haven't seen any advantage with using them on my cars for the way I drive. That said, the four contact patches of your tires are the only thing holding you onto the road, and affect safety more than anything else, so price should not be the primary factor.

^^^The tire needs for a Nissan Armada are much different than a WRX. Continentals won’t last anywhere near as long on a heavy beast like an Armada as Michelins, in my experience.

The first set of Michelin's on my C2500 got 117k miles and still had tread left but were starting to get cracks in the side walls.

The replacement set of LTX MS/2 were perfect and didn't need any weights for balancing.
