I usually carry a TDI knife just to the left of the buckle on my wilderness belt but switch off to a Spyderco Reverse, Ban Tang Clinch Pick and now this from Special Circumstances

Rey HRHI like the blade design but there's not much of a hilt for your hand to butt up against to keep your hand from slipping over the blade if you were thrusting it into something.

crue-dellI like Spyderco. Here is a 5" fixed blade, the Street Bowie. They also offer a 3.5" version, the Steet Beat.
Spyderco Street Bowie 3.5" Street BeatBoth around $115. Looks like a viable option to me.

I have the Fred Perrin Street Beat and I like it. I also have a Spyderco Ronin 2 which I really like. It is the bigger fixed blade version of the Yojimbo 2, which I also have and like.

elberettasWell it sounds like SPG got you covered. I also used to have a small collection of Cold Steel fixed blades, as well as a Voyager and Recon Tanto, up until the late 90's/early 2000's. I now only own a Kershaw Blur (EDC) and USMC Ka Bar (SHTF). This thread got me eyeing the CRKT Sting, ESEE IZULA and Gerber Strongarm. I love this forum, but it can get expensive...

The Street Beat is one of the first things I thought of in this thread. I, too, have it and like it a lot. It will be among my high choices if I find myself carrying a fixed blade for possible defensive purposes.

Thank you. I waited a long time for it but it is a work of art. Ian's stuff if fantastic, spendy yes but truly neat stuff. And yes, it comes with the sheath, And I just spent half again the price of one of them for a small Sebenza with raindrop damascus.
I passed on the trainer as I have been using Nok Hodges Nok knives for trainers for several years now.

slabsides45Living in the South, it's warm most seasons, and I really don't want to carry a fixed blade OWB. The idea of a tuckable sheath came to mind (looked it up, it IS a thing), but then it's just one more hassle to deal with. I don't wear full height boots, I wear chukkas, so boot carry is out for me. I have the CRKT around the neck mini-pig sticker knife, but since I wear a scrub top with no collar every day it kinda makes it obvious.
So, at this point the benefit of this thread is simply to continue coveting the really cool blades and wait for one to appear that I could utilize.

parabellumAh, yes, neck carry. This is a very practical way to carry a blade, provided you have a secure sheath and the knife is not too big
or heavy, which is a big factor in neck carry.
Members keep mentioning ESEE knives. I have an Izula with Knife Connection handle scales which I neck carry from time to time. The Izula comes with a flat and very secure sheath which allows for upside down carry. The sheath has a lanyard hole at center bottom, making it ideal for upside down carry on the neck. It's a friction lock sheath, so there are no straps to manipulate. Just give the knife handle a firm pull and out comes your blade. If you wear this knife on the neck and wear a shirt which is not tucked in, you can get to it and get it out very quickly. As with all practical neck knives, though, it's got a short blade.
You might get away with carrying an ESSE-3 in this manner. Same flat, secure friction lock sheath. But, now we're getting into heavier knives and you might find wearing such a rig for hours on end to be somewhat uncomfortable.
The Zero Tolerance 0121 Citadel is referring to- that's a whole lot of blade for neck carry: 4.25 inch blade, 9 ounces, not including the sheath. Thiis is something I wouldn't do and I think a lot of people would say the same. But, if you can manage it, then you are well-armed.
